XM to Sirius-2007?

I have a 2007 Denali w/ Nav & XM. I want to convert to Sirius and use the existing radio/Nav Unit. After hunting, this is all I come up with even close.

It doesnt look like its integrated?

 

Will it work? Again, I do not want a secondary unit, I want to be able to use all the existing features of the in dash unit.

 

If it wont work, what will & when can we get it?

I think you want an SIR-GM1, (available everywhere, search at Circuit City, Best Buy, Crutchfield, ETC.) but I don't know how it works with the NAV system. Someone here has to have more info.

I called a local radio shop. They said they had a box that should plug into the 07s (worked in previous models), but that they would have to use an external antenna rather than using the existing antenna as a pull for the new wiring. No thanks.

I'm putting in my Sirius today, just in time for Nascar.

My truck is an 06 though, I suppose the 07 is probably different, everything else on it is, so why not the radio?

Not sure the connectors on the 07 XM unit, but there is an adapter for the SIR-GM1 kit... do a search on ebay for SIR-GM1 and it should show up... like 24.99$ Cant hurt to try picking up the SIR-GM1 and seeing if it works. There's no place like sirius I tell ya

I know that XM will haggle on the prices (I've heard about people getting it for $3 a month), but what about Sirius? Can you get it any cheaper than the $12.95/month?

 

I think I'd be willing to pay for Sirius, but probably only about half of what they want.

 

XM just doesn't have as good a selection (esp. classic rock) that Sirius does.

This is all well and good, but that doesn't change the fact I'd like my 07 Sierra NBS to use Sirius instead of XM. :\

 

I hope we don't have to wait for the "merger". Ugh.

I swapped the XM in my 05 Denali with the SIR GM 1. Quick and easy install. I picked up an antenna adapter from a guy on Ebay so you can use the stock GM roof antenna. XM is crap and Sirius rocks. There is no comparison now that Sirius has Nascar. I'm not sure that the merger will be approved, but we will just have to wait and see.

 

I'm not sure is the SIR GM 1 will work with the new 2007s. But try contacting Crutchfield.

I contacted the folks over at tss-radio.com who sell a ton of Sirius accessories. The guy wasn't super helpful, but he did say he couldn't confirm that the existing SIR-GM1 unit would work with '07 NAV units. He also didn't know of anything in the works.

 

Of course, I could have gotten the guy who cleans the floors on the phone so who knows.

 

For $89 I may just order the darn thing and answer the question once and for all.

 

Anybody in an older model want to buy a SIR-GM1 at a reduced rate if it doesn't work? hahaha

I would like to know the answer to this as all as I have a NBS 07 Sierra and an 07 G6 to convert.

 

I hate the way XM is set up, stations all over in no particular order. One of the things I like best about Sirius is how everything is in categorys. Rock, pop ect. Also, the music played on sirius is way better than XM, plus sirius has Howard!

 

Another this I like about sirius is thay are uncensored no matter what. XM claims to be but then they go an fire or suspend people for stepping over the line with thier show.
