I need a source for rear brake shoes for a 2005 GMC Sierra Crew Cab Z71? Yes I said shoes > Gm went back to the drum brakes an they wear out much faster than the fronts. GM dealer wants $140. Thats ridiculous.

Thanks

I would try NAPA. I would trust them more with brake pads than Auto Zone or Discount Auto Parts and they probably give you a lifetime warranty on the shoes too. But check them all and if they give you a lifetime warranty and a decent price, what have you got to lose?

In my experience, rear drum brakes (if kept adjusted properly...every few months back up really fast and slam on the brakes) last ALOT longer than the pads in the front...usually they only need to be replaced every other brake job. And that includes towing heavy trailers with my dad's 1-ton.

I just checked our (CARQUEST) system and we do have the shoes avail and likely in stock in many of our stores. They are provided to us by Raybestos and the part # you are looking for is a BS 855. I try not to get into quoting prices because many of our stores are independently owned and one store's pricing may vary a little from another's. They will come in somewhere around $110.00 or less. The BS series is our "Better" grade and will be a better quality shoe than what came on the truck. We offer a GS (Gold Series) but this part # is not yet avail in Gold. You will be happy with the Blue Series.

Not sure where you are located but if you do not have a CQ store in your community, you can find the closest store on CARQUEST.com or at 1 800 492 PART. PM me if you have any problems.

Trey

PS I keep telling you guys, leave those "wantabe parts stores" alone. :shakehead: LOL
