Got a question?

I recently had to replace a 17" cast aluminum wheel on our 06 gmc. I got a used wheel from the dealership where I bought it. I think it looks the same as the rest of them. My wife says it doesn't. She said the spokes in the new wheel are bigger than the other ones. She thinks that since the wheels were probably made on different days, they are probably a little bit different. I say they are the same. Can anyone help me out, so I can prove my wife wrong.

I'd be quite surprised if they were different. I bought four individual wheels off of e-bay to put on my truck, no issues to report. Those wheels are cast and heavily machined by automated processes, there isn't much chance of variation. IIRC, my wheels have numbers in the casting to indicate which line they came off of. The markings also indicate that GM doesn't even make the wheels, but buys them from a company called Speedline.

MY PYO wheels on my 04 2500 were made ay Alcoa in yugoslavia !

The name alcoa and yugoslavia are plainly stamped on the back side of the wheels.

When did you buy the truck?

Because didn't GM just start making their wheels in China last year? There is a potential that the casting could be off if that was the wheel sitting at the dealership.

Bought the truck last August. Got a used wheel of another used truck that was 8 months old from the dealership where we originally bought the truck. Brand new wheels are expensive.
