Ladies and Gentlemen, My name is David Levine and i am here today to present you with a project that i have wanted to do for sometime now and have finally gotten the courage to do.

What i want to do is to interview any soldiers from any service that want to tell there story about what really happened in Iraq and Afghaistan. I am trying to do this because i am tired of hearing the liberal media trying to smash the actions overseas. This is a project that i have always wanted to do and now i am going to mostly becuse of a post written by a member of this forum. He inspired me to pursue this.

So what i am asking for is any soldier in Texas and its surrounding states to please e-mail me at [email protected] with your information. and if you live outside this area and can video tape your story and send it to me i will sed you a fed ex package to send it to me in. And please any of your family members that are in Iraq or Afganistan and have videos that they have sent and you are willing to share them please e-mail me. Also any video you have of what is actually going on over there and you are willing to share please let me know.

I really want this to work and if i can put together an hour or so of video and i can convince someone to air it i think we might actually be able to make difference.

Thank you,

David Levine

Thats a great idea. If all of these anti-war liberals really knew what goes on over there they'd change they're minds. Every time someone starts commenting on the war i ask if they've been over there. They're answer is always no, then i ask them how they can possibly know what they are talking about. Good luck with your project. :flag:

Unfortunately they do know what's going on. They choose not to report it because of their anti-American, anti-Bush and anti-military stance. Take for example NBC's "military analyst" William Arkin who called the military a bunch of mercenaries and just bad-mouthing our men and women who PROTECT his right to verbally slap our military in the face. Unfortunately, they're the reason the Democrats are control congress now.

Sorry for my last rant.

I think it's an awesome idea. I think it would be easier for an individual to get on post to do a story that it would a network. I really hope you get the real story out to the public and be sure to keep us posted.

i am going to get a domain but i have run into a snag, a buddy of mine is a lawyer and said i REALLY need to watch my ass with this because especially Helmet cam videos speciffically are not for distribution by anyone. and some of the stories aren't allowed and that there is a chance i could run into some serious problems with Homeland Security. I really want to do this but i am already on there radar for computer stuff. so i have to decide if i want to continue

I only have one comment in regards to the direction that this thread is taking....

Wingnut will be here soon with his angry eyes on :banghead:

Kind of. I think this is a great idea.

The thread may get closed because people have a hard time following the rules when it comes to political issues (as evidenced by posts already made), but it'll probably stay up for viewing.

Keep the rules in mind folks. Go soapbox about politics elsewhere.

It's really nice to see the managment of a site let a post stand (while reminding everyone of the rules !!!) and see how it goes, before just deciding it might get outta hand and have it deleted.

As long as everyone stays respectful of each other, this can really lead to good things.

Thank you, Wingnut (and all other managment) for letting us have our freedom of speech!!

If I had a "You Guy's Rock" award to pass out, I'd give it to ya. But this is the closest thing I got :banghead:

I hope you don't have to pull the plug on this.

And ZZebes, best of luck on the project, as well as getting the interviews.

We only hear/read/see what "They" want us to.

And to all those in the services, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU !!!!

As a military Officer that has been doing it for 12 years, you may not get alot of responses due to the fact most of us are willing to talk to you on a unoffical basis, but not outright as a military person. This is mainly because we try to stay out of the view because that is the job of the Public Affairs personnel. (As a Infantry Guy I tend to curse too much, fart too loud, talk too loud, and have too much of a "meat eater" mindset vs. "plant eater" mindset LOL!!!:banghead:

This is not to say that we are not willing to share some of our stories, but for the most part its a private matter and its is hard for civilians to understand or relate to what we do. That is not to say people don't understand us, but is more of a issue of no direct point of referance that civilans have toward the military life. I have been around alot of different places and talking to many different people, and am proud to say that the vast majority of Americans have been very supportive, but alot of it has also been very hypocritcal.

What I mean by this is that most people will say we support you guys/girls, as long as it is not my son/daughter/father/uncle/mother and so on. So we know that most people just don't "get it", and we basically just have our buds that we BS with and tell war stories to.

So long story short, In Iraq there are alot of fustrating things going on, but alot of good things are also going on. I have seen us helping people get water and electricity in places that have never had it, but I have also seen some other things that were falt out fustrating. That is life and it will take a while. Good luck!

    • I would argue that GMPartsDirect has that info wrong.    The service manual for R+R the lower arm and for adjusting camber/caster, none of the steps say to discard and replace the nut or the bolt.    The only part that gets discarded is the plastic cam adjustment retainer that is in the eccentric from the factory.     The LCA nut torque spec is: First Pass: 180 Y (133 lb ft) Final Pass: 90 –105 Degrees
    • The filtering to wear relationship goes like this:      'Relative Engine Life "Factor" new divided by the factor old. So 8/3= 2.67. That result is the multiplier thus if a motor had an effective life of 100K using a filter with a 45 micron rating at a Beta ratio of 75 then a filter with a micron rating of 10 at a Beta of 75 would improve expected engine life to 267,000 miles.    Wear metals are an indirect indicator. Less is better and the motor lives longer but there isn't a multiplier like there is for filtration so well documented. Most of that has to do with the sensitivity of the wear metals tests themselves. They read a 'slice' of the spectrum but not the absolute values for the entire spectrum. So a general indicator that is used WITH the results of other tests. Two others considered in this post. Trending is very important.    There is also the influence of corrosive wear which may be seen in the wear metals but separate from load based or viscosity mitigated indication. It's a small graph but the gray line is wear vs the TBN/TAN crossover. Not as useful as it used to be as there are now new chemistries for acid remediation that don't show up in standard UAO testing. They will catch up or be found liars. Only two possible outcomes, eh?
    • One thing that comes up over and over is that the torque converters are the weak link. Many of the failed transmissions have the same thing in common. The torque converter grenades and then metal torque converter shards end up destroying the transmission. One of the best things you can do is if your transmission is still fully functional, change out to one of the aftermarket billet torque converters. There are several good choices mentioned in different threads here to make your choice. After that, then you can decide about trans tuning. My trans failed at around 95,000 miles. It got replaced under the GM protection plan. The remanufactured trans comes with a 100,000 mile /3 year warranty. I still have just under 1 year left. So far, so good. As long as it's still working good next year, an aftermarket torque converter is going to get installed early spring. If the trans and OEM torque converter fail by then, I will get it replaced under warranty and immediately have an aftermarket torque converter installed. A warranty replacement trans of a replacement trans will no longer have the warranty so I will bulletproof it from the get go.
    • You got'a be cooking right now. Just looked at the weather map. Yuck!    We are right back to $4 today.
    • Pushing $4.00 a gallon in most places, still $3.75 in town but it's going to spike tomorrow for sure.   Diesel back up to $4.60-5.00.
