GMPP catback

I was looking at the GM Performance Parts catback. I had two questions, one, has anyone installed this and if so how do you like it? Two, is it made by Corsa? GM offers a touring and performance edition. The mufflers look the same as Corsa's and on the TV show Trucks, they installed one on an 07 with a 6.0 and it sounded good. I am curious about this as it looks good and is cheaper than the Corsa.

Yes, it's Corsa. If I bought a new truck I'd get the exhaust and CAI and include them in the payments along with a few other accessories.

It used to be CORSA, but now I hear they changed to Borla. Corsa will say Corsa on the tips. If it doesn't say Corsa, then I believe it's the Borla system.

Not corsa anymore, just helped put one on my friends 07 classic and the mufflers are different and sound differnt than my true corsa. Still sounds good but not as good as corsa, the new mufflers (borla? as mentioned above) are fiberglass packed so it will get louder as the packing burns out. my friend has already noticed his getting louder after only a few hundred miles.

btw: i got my single outlet corsa from autoanything.com for $620 it normally sells for like 700-720, but they always have specials for 10-20% or $$ off changing everyday so just check them out every couple days. really fast shipping too

I was looking into the GMPP cat back system for my 07 NBS as well. I have read that you have to remove the spare tire. Does anyone know this for sure? I have the EC-SB (5ft 9in bed)

I spoke with Corsa and they have not released their kit yet, another couple of weeks. I have a Magnaflow now and hate it. There is major drone at 1700rpm with a little load on the engine. I have to get it off soon or I will go crazy.... :chevrolet:

You guys sure it's now made by Borla? Reason I inquire is that Borla system's tips are different. Also, if you go to some of the GM Accessory sites, the description for the GM systems and the Corsa systems (which are GM approved) are virtually identical.

I have the touring edition on my 07 Tahoe and really like the sound. I was under the assumption that it was indeed Corsa. I didn't see anything on the muffler, tip or packaging that identified it.

I recently purchased a 2007 (new body style) Silverado crew cab LTZ 2wd with the 6.0L motor. I'm concerned about the drone in the V4 mode. As of about 3-4 weeks ago, only CORSA and BORLA seem to have systems for the AFM technology. The CORSA tech I spoke to said that BORLA is now producing the catback systems for GM.

I have a Gibson Kit on my NBS '07. I really Hate the vibration and drone in V4 mode. I called Gibson and they said it's not a problem.

I had the same problem with Magnaflow. I just went with Corsa and it is awsome. I could not believe how nice it sounded when I was done. Just right in the cab. totaly mean outside.

Gibson emailed me back and said they have had several complaints about the drone in V4 mode. They are going to work on a solution. Hopefully, they come back with some good news.

I just contacted Borla and they indeed make the exhaust system for the next generation 2007 silverado. One question though for those that have this system. How do you like it? I'm concerned about cruising drone in the cabin due to the V4 mode. I want to buy the system with my new truck and throw it in with the truck payments, but would rather have the corsa. Someone enlighten me.

I have a 2007 NBS z71 ext cab w/5.3 and the GMPP single exit exhaust. It is made by Corsa, this was verified by the dealer and Corsa. You can see the similarities in the tips and the mufflers themselves, round versus flat oval like others. I love the exhaust, it is quite but deep sounding on idle and sounds awesome under acceleration. The in cab noise is minimal and the drone while in v4 mode is not noticable. Would recommend .. :D

    • I imagine the cold winters up here with repeated short runs in town every day for those that live and work in town and given what I have come to learn on this forum with DI engines having fuel dilution issues, and if they don't change the oil until it says to but keep driving it for a while, I bet all that is just lovely on those finicky lifters.
    • I just did some reading and Stabilitrak is more than a what I had originally thought. It is more of a vehicle control system to help the driver in precarious situations. I thought it was only the AWD system. Now I know. So I changed the title for this thread to AWD conversion to Z71
    • Sounds like converting will be a bigger endeavor than I was thinking. This truck doesn't have 2Hi like the Suburban did. The Tahoe has 4Hi and 4Lo and a button to turn of traction control.   From what I understand the Stabilitrak uses open diff in the front and rear. When wheel speed is not the same the stabilitrak uses the ABS system to slowdown the spinning wheel(s) to transfer power to the slower non-spinning wheel(s). I thought the transfer case was open too. Being able to transfer power either more to front or rear depending on wheel spin. Maybe I miss understood some information with you saying and power transfer is 50-50. Thanks
    • My brother has a 2007 Avalanche with afm 5.3. It`s got 176,000 miles. Runs like a clock. Never been apart. Co worker has a 2010 Tahoe with afm 5.3. 230,000 miles. Never been apart. Runs like a clock. So, even though cyl deac is a weak spot, they can go the distance.   BUT, these engines had the oil changed regularly, AND had 5w30 as spec. I wonder if they would have lasted this far on 0w20? I`ll bet not.
    • I certainly could be wrong but I hear of pickups far newer than that 2007 cutoff which may not be going to the wrecker but are having engine work done and be that a reman engine or new engine or trying to repair the existing engine. Some of it would be design issues as per the cylinder deactivation system that GM has and one of those lifters wiping out the cam and the question of oil changes moving the needle or not on that whole mess, or in the case of Ford pickup engines that have the long timing chains and wearing them out and the roller followers and phasers and some of that certainly goes back to oil change intervals. But in those various cases the truck has all sorts of life left in it and so the unfortunate owner and may be original owner or used market owner that is pouring money into repairs so the truck is not seeing the salvage yard yet but damage is happening by infrequent oil changes. A friends son had bought a 2018 I think it is half ton GM and it had some sort of extended or used dealer warranty on it and of course the lifter issue bites and its rattling and so the dealer had to swallow the bill and was at least 7000.00 and I think they only replaced what they felt they had to replace so yeah, I can see that being a ticking time bomb in the not too distant future. Would frequent oil changes cure all these engineering "marvels", probably not but some engine designs have shown that they do much better if the oil is changed a lot more often then if the manufacturer service claims are followed. New trucks cost so much that there is an incentive to keep the existing truck on the road by repairing.
