Hey folx.

Has any of you had the dealer forget to connect your second battery postive cable? I was giving a guy a jump the other day and i discovered that my right (as seen from the front) positive battery cable was wrapped in black tape.

Is thits normal? So i just went ahead and disconnected the neg and screwed in the Pos and then the Neg and all was fine.

Any info on why this was the way it was would be helpfull.

(couldnt find anything on this in previous posts)

Thanx

Obviously someone who PDI'ed the truck wasn't familiar with Diesels.   ???

How long have you had it running like this?  If not long, I don't see any harm, the electricity would've just gone to the main battery anyway.

The truck has about 2500 miles on it now. You think there is damage?

Speaking of which... Does anyone have pics of a factory dual battery setup?  I am thinking of this for my 1500.

I doubt it.  If memory serves me correct, on GM diesels (and probably most), the battery that WAS hooked up like it should've been is your primary battery.  It'll receive all power until it is fully charged, then the secondary (the one not attached) will receive the overflow.

You shouldn't have shorted anything out as the voltage regulator would have reduced alternator output to compensate.

Bats on the diesel are connected in parallel to give additional capacity under worst-case conditions. Obviously a single bat was sufficient under current circumstances. No harm done. ~ odoh

What does PDI stand for?  Some kind of quality check after work is performed?

If so, I don't think anyone does them at my dealer, after finding some of the things I've found after picking my truck up.   ???

Pre Delivery Inspection.  There is suppose to be a checklist the dealership technician is suppose to go through.  Guess that might not have been one of the items on the checklist.  Or if it were like mine, the salesman drove it off the truck and check the fluids. :D
