stock head unit problem??

Hey guys,

 

I was headed into work early this morning when i noticed that not all the lights on my stock radio unit are not on anymore. Last night was the last time i drove it, and everything was fine. On the radio, buttons: 1 & 2 are lit up, but not buttons: 3 throught 6... and a couple of the buttons for the tape deck as well. I am not savvy when it comes to electrical or A/V for auto, is this a fuse thing, or do i have to got to the dealer?

Are you still under warranty? It's not a fuse if some lights are on and some are off. The buttons are backlighted with small light bulbs. From the dealer they are expensive($10.00-$12.00ea.) The same bulbs are about a buck at Radio Shack.

On my Pontiac Vibe the part# is 88970578 and all Delco radios are probably the same bulb.

My 97 was the same, when I CD player crapped out I just installed a different headunit. From what I was told, the blubs are soldered in style... so if you are going to the time to take the radio apart and melt the old bulb out... do them all!
