1-2 Shift 2007 Classic

question for those with an 07 classic. just picked one up with 4:10's. does anyone think going from first to second seems to lag. it doesnt seem to want to shift then when it does sometimes the truck shudders. i did test drive 3 others all with 4:10's and shifted the same way. sure doesnt shift like my 02! kinda driving me nuts.....does seem to smooth out a bit once warmed up.

I've got an '07 classic with 3.42s. Same thing, between 1 and 2 the transmission seems to hestitate a bit, with the shudder sometimes. Seems to happen when the trans is colder (especially when it's in the single digits outside), particularly under light acceleration. At first it was a bit annoying, but I'm noticing it less and less now (getting used to it I guess, either that or its because the outside temps are warming up now, in the 70s today, can you say heat wave!).

I get the same thing when I have it in stock form. I also have 4.10's. Superchips took care of that issue. I know what you mean about the shudder. It does not inspire ANY confidence when shifting from 1-2.

My 03 Denali has the same horrible 1-2 upshift. I maxed the line pressure and quickness of the shift with my handheld tuner and it still shifts slow and sloppy. Anyone done anything that made this better? The 2-3 shift is great...

ok well i'm glad i'm not the only one.....guess this is how they shift now. my 2002 shifted awesome (until it started slipping) haha. thanks for the replies.

Two words: Torque Management

Torque Management was the first thing that I shut off with the tuner.

 

Torque management is how GM (and others) keep you from abusing the drivetrain. Stomp your truck to the floor from a dead stop and notice the hesitation when you do it. The computer is limiting the acceleration and thus the torque transmitted to the driveline.

 

Any other suggestions??? I see that some people installed a shift kit in the trans. My programmer specifically says not to mess with the line pressure etc. if you have installed a kit in the tranny. I know the manufacturers think that the public wants nice pretty seamless shifts when they drive. But it would be nice to get a performance shift if you ask for it with the programmer.
