manual would be cool....but 6 speed auto is kinda pointless don't you think?

plus it would probably come in a package that you have to buy which makes the price 5G's more

I love my 6 speed auto. Having 2 OD's is the shizznit, in a gasser it would allow 4.10s to turn low rpms on the highway, sounds good to me!

Get a ZF 6 speed tranny and install it in place of your 4l60E and enjoy the multiple gears to choose. Or get the truck with a 5 speed manual and don't worry about your fluid for 150k miles. My 2 cents.

I was told by a guy here in Texas that the light duty silverados were going to have the option of 6 speed transmission here is the quote from an email I got from a sales man

" we had a conference call the other day and our Chevrolet rep said they would be available in the 2008 models in the 1st quarter of 2008."

 

Has anyone else heard any firm information ?

confirmed by Gm that all 08 model pickups that are half tons will have 6 spds atleast 5.3L and up they have not yet decided on the 4.8L yet last i heard and the 4.3L will not have the 6 spd

Didn't the GM reps at the New York auto show say no 6 speeds until the 2009 MY now?

2008 ordering guides are online. Same old 4 speed for the silverado, sierra, avalanche, tahoe, and yukon

I like more the 4 speed. The 6L80 on my Escalade makes me nervous with all the up and downshifts. Enough torque present for a 4 speed. To hell with fuel saving...

Ive heard no 6 speed in 08 but probally in 09 with the 6.0
