6.5td Trouble Codes

so I'm trying to help out a buddy of mine...his truck is a '96 GMC 3500 dually with a few codes kicking out of it:

 

PO370...timing reference high res signal A malfunction

PO251...injection pump metering control A

PO236 Turbo superboostsensor A cktrange/perf

 

truck wont start...I know very little about diesels...but I'm guessing that the timing reference is the start of the problem and the other 2 are directly related?

 

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

0251 usually is a pmd (pump mounted driver) black box on the side of the pump. i would put a pump in this if it was in front of me. take the fuel filter out and shine a flash light into the can and check for debris and shinny silver metal. They are under warranty for 10 years and i think 150k miles but i would have to look that up to be sure.
