Chevy Or Gmc?

Well folks my 04 is nearing the end of its warranty and its worked

hard snowplowing and heavy towing. Ain't no driveway queen!!

Only one dealer visit to have the mirrors replaced because the

heat quit working. Not to mention several $19.95

LOFs in its 20,000 mile working life. Yes only 20k miles.

So now its decision time! I have located both a Chevy and GMC

2500 x-cab 4x4 both in the color I want (black) cloth guts, 6.0

and equipped ready to work

ie: snow plow prep, G-80, trailer tow. Both have the power goodies

too along with a bonus factory remote start !

The Sierra denali is one sharp ride but only a 1500 and no plow prep so a 2500 is the only option. But it would be easy enough swapping in that crazy Denali grille into the regular Sierra.................

The bad Bowtie is a nice rig also................

It will probably come down to who offers the best trade $$$ on my 04. Chevy offered $21500.....Will visit GMC guy tomorrow..............

Rebates on both are $3000 plus $1000 GM employee bonus and my GM card $$$.

Yet I wonder since the world ended with toyoyo outselling GM worldwide (this past quarter) if rebates will increase next month????????????????

I would think that it might be worth a shot to wait (if you can) to see if they come out with any better incentives. Surely they are going to try and do something.

Go GMC, the front end looks so much better!

Also, the actual 07 NBS Denali grill won't fit a 2500, only 1500 Sierra (not Silverado).

Don't trade your truck! It's a rip-off! Sell it yourself. A 3 year truck with 20k miles will set like a hot-cake on its own for FAR MORE then any dealer is going to pay you. Dealers pay wholesale and sell at retail. You can sell it retail and keep the profit for yourself. Don't pay a cent over invoice on your new truck and don't be afraid to order one from the factory to get everything you want.

I just sold my old truck through cars.com. Compared to newspaper ads they are cheaper and have an option for continuous renewal if it doesn't sell at first. You can add a bunch of pics and have the space to really describe your vehicle in depth. I also placed ads in several local papers, which were more expensive than cars.com, and didn't do squat for leads (which was surprising, but eh?) The guy who got it was pre-sold because of the pics on cars.com. He was hyped, which was kinda funny.

Mine was kind of a special edition vehicle (Tremor edition: Massive stereo with the woofer taking up the entire floor of the extended cab, a zillion speakers, very cool head unit) so the first dealer told me they would give me LESS THAN NADA blue book ($8,900) wholesale on it, like $5,000 because it was "hard to sell." (Nonsense. A kid would be in heaven with this truck: Beautiful Zaino'd purple and LOUD!) And I know darn well they would take it for cheap and put a heavy retail sticker on it like $12,995 when NADA retail was $11,000. I wound up selling it for $10,000 cash (as in real greenbacks), which I thought was a pretty fair deal all around. My buyer got a good deal, and I got more than wholesale for it.

Oh, and the buyer, just like me, was well over fifty. Who says old guys can't rock!

Not to worry about paying more than invoice because I get

the GM employee deal...........

As far as selling it myself...yea i could get maybe $2000 more than

trading it in. But then its the sell it yourself hassle. I live out in the

sticks so that limits the pool of buyers. Not to mention I live in a

depressed area. (Thanks NAFTA and eat your import car!)

Then dealing with the strokes and joyriders sure is fun!

Did I mention the $1000 rebate I would lose by not trading in my 04?

Or the $1000+ difference I would have to pay in sales tax by

not having the trade in offset?

Also don't forget Mr. Bank will usually only loan the average Joe off

the street loan value of a vehicle. Which is FAR LESS than retail or

trade value. Most folks looking at a $23k retail used vehicle with a

loan value of $18k don't have the $5000 difference in CASH laying

around..............Add sales tax to that !

Thats where mr. dealer comes into play. He CAN get the whole

package financed for just about anybody with good credit !

Now what if that person who just bought that $23k truck from me has a problem? Sure I put "as-is no warranty expressed or implied" on the sales slip.

But then I have this 400 lb. gorilla aka Vinnie the bone

breaker whos super pissed that his tranny just bit the big one and

can't ride anymore !!!!!!!!!! Remember this truck was a snowplow

rig! Pounding on my door wanting a piece of my axx !!!!!!!!!

Sorry let the dealer EARN his piece of the pie dealing with this guy!

I hope that GMC is still on the lot today!!! GMC 3/4 x-cabs are a

scarce animal in my area!.............geo

I agree with mini1 about the GMC front end. That was the only reason I went with the GMC.

I bought my 2007 GMC 2500HD fully loaded 2 months ago. I got the usual painfully beaten down dealer discount after threatening them with buying a Ford plus a $500 military rebate and a $500 rebate with 0% financing. The very next day they increased the 0% financing rebate to $1000. That would lead me to believe at this point in time with gas prices as they are that you may want to wait a few more weeks to see if they do any better.

DAVE...........Yea that is on my mind. But currently for me as a GM

Employee buyer the rebates are $4000 where the average buyer

is $2150. The Gm card and employee bonus cash expires at the

end of the month and its unknown if it will be extended...............

Not to mention the GM not wanting me to walk increased my trade

in value from $18,500 to $21,500 in moments !!!!!!!!!

They will have that badboy sold for $23,900 in days...........

A late model black loaded lo-mile x-cab GM 4x4 2500 in my area is hard to find................

Hmmmmm.........geo

DARN !!!!!..........The black GMC is GONE ! Wasted all that time driving to

Syracuse to make a deal! Knucklehead salesguy said it was still there !

There is only 1 other GMC in black 75 miles away in Rochester but it doesn't

have VYU plow prep.....................

Oh well it looks like Chevy it is ! I gotta make the deal by tomorrow because

the rebates and incentives end. But wondering if GM in its quest to regain the

#1 spot will increase the incentives????????????

Are you looking at the NBS trucks for $23900 or the Classic? Thats a great price-also, are you looking at a RCLB or extended/crew cab? Thanks

sonjaab,

Log on to O'Connor GMC in Augusta, ME. They have plenty of inventory. That's where I bought mine. I had to travel 2 hours to get there. You're probably looking at a 7-8 hour drive. If they got what you want then maybe it's worth it. Most of their trucks have the snow plow prep and trailering packages.

Looking for a GMT-900 3/4 4x4 x-cab SLE-1 pkg.....................

Only 12 GMCs in 100 miles from me......0 in black !

About 50 Chevys..................2 in black that are identical and both are $35,250

and both are nearby.

GM employee price $31,000 minus $4000 in rebates.

And the toyoyo blundra zealots claim a new blundra is hard to find !........geo

I personally like the Chevy look over GMC, however Denali is a very nice looking truck.

I have to agree with you that Chevy is one fine looking truck now, but so is the Gmc.

Wow, that really is a great price if you can find one. Plus, buying a new one you get the 5/100k which will benefit you a lot since you work the trucks so hard (what they were meant for). Let us know how you turn out.
