Transfer Case Problems!

Okay, so i wake up this morning and im driving down the road and when i get to a stop sign, i stop and wait for traffic. Everything is good at this point. Then as i try to pull out into traffic, it is like something is holding the truck back. I push the throttle down a little farther and then something breaks loose. I have had this happen before but i was driving my truck really hard. Last time i let it sit for a few hours and everything was fine. This time it sounds like one of those toys that you can crank up by sliding it across a desk, deffinately metal to metal contact. Can anyone help my situation and provide some advice. i believe i have narrowed it down to the transfer case because even in 4hi it wont go forward on its own power off of idle. It just makes this grinding noise and it is so terrible :D . I have an automatic transfer case if that helps and i also have 196000 miles on my silverado.

my u-joints are fine and my transfer case fluid was low but i cannot manage to get the bolt off to put some fluid in it.

Does it do this in 2 wheel? (i'm assuming) Did you check the transmission? I know you think it's the transfer case... I'm just trying to start from square 1

I've got a 2005 HD 4wd that when it's in 2 wd and you pull up to a stop sign and take off I am also getting a very bad grinding noise that seems to be coming from the transfer case. Tranny does not slip and I'm not getting any resistance at this time. Mine only does it when accelerating. I can actually let off the gas when I get to a certain speed and this one will stop most of the time. I have had to repeat letting off the gas again more than once to get it to stop. We were out of town and had to drive a 2.5 hour drive home and on the way home I heard a few at road speed other than that no noise once up to speed. I did have someone look at it and they looked up on some computer by the VIN number and GM has released some tech bulletins showing they have had some trouble with the transfer cases. I also would greatly appreciate any feedback.
