03 1500hd Weak Horn

My horn is sounding mono tone and I am wondering where it is located. I assume there are two, one on each side but cannot seem to locate either one. Can anyone give me some direction here on how to locate it or them? Easier to find from top or bottom. Also any tips on figuring why it is sounding weak. Thanks in advance as always.

Its usually the 1 behind the pass head/parklite.

Not sure if the 1500HD is in the same location as the 2500HD, but my horn was below the head/parklight on the drivers side. Pull back the front drivers inner fender liner and there it is. I replaced my stock weak horn with a Bosch airhorn, problem solved.

Great thanks for the tip. I noticed only sound coming from the drivers side. I'll pull the horn and get a replacement at the dealer. I am hoping its not something else like a relay or such.

I have a 03 2500hd and the passenger side horn has been replaced twice in one year. I think it might get some water in it from washing the wheel wells. Bad design is my guess. There is one driver side and one passenger side horn.

Interesting. I will ask the dealer if there is a warranty on these horns before I buy a new one. This should be a free replacement in my opinion. It is a safety device just like the seatbelts!

I forget the name of the horn manufacturer, but Pep Boys sells the replacement horns. The wiring harness plugs right into them. Probably half the price of the dealer. There are two horns, one Hi tone, one Low tone. Be sure to buy whatever tone you want.

I had the same problem and had the dealer replace the bad passenger side horn under warranty. About 6 months later the new horn stopped working. I found the new horn full of water because the orientation of the opening allowed water to get inside of the horn. I drained the water out of the horn and remounted it so the opening would not let water in. It's been over three years and both horns are working fine.

Good thinking on your part on the mounting a different way. GM is thinking the same way you are. Why do I say that? Because I ordered a new horn (right side high note) and the direction of sound is 180 degrees different from the original non working horn that I pulled off.

Hopefully this will not fail. For what its worth, I got the horn (kit) from partzoneonline for half of what the stealers were asking. Thanks for all input.
