Anyone having trouble with their battery going dead? As soon as i leave it sit for two days the battery goes dead, whats up? i am thinking its my aftermarket stereo, something is drawing power. I think i am going to unhook the power line of the stereo at the battery, hopefully its minor but dang it, the truck only has 500 kms!! Any sugestions?

Call your dealer, mine called me about bringing my truck in to get reflashed to address a problem with the battery/power management system. Symptom is the truck batttery can go dead with no warning!

I haven't gotten mine back in yet, they just called me about 2 weeks ago.

Yup..There is an updated program available for the NBS trucks.

Don't be hesitant to call your dealer about this stuff. Call the service department and give them the last 8 digits of your VIN. Then they can tell you if you have any open campaigns.

There was a TSB on this problem. I took my NBS in for some other work and was informed they made the fix for a "Battery Drain Issue".

Talk to your local service guys and you'll likely find you have the same fix waiting for you.

Is this a problem on all NBS trucks or just 5.3's? Just wondering if my 6.0 Max would have the same problem? I would think so. I suppose I will call my dealer tomorrow to see what he knows about it.

Just hung up the phone with my service advisor at my dealership. He ran my VIN number and said my truck was not part of this TSB. He didn't know the criteria, but said they have reprogrammed several NBS trucks, but mostly Yukons. I asked if it had anythign to do with the 6.0 vs the 5.3 but he didn't think so but also said he didn't know, just that my truck is not in need of a reflash. Cool!!!

It's been an on going problem with GM products since 2005.It's know as DBS (dead batery syndrome). If it contiunes after the truck is re fashed, scream and complain as loud as you can until they buy your truck back.

With all of the electronics, modules, computers, etc on these vehicles, it doesn't surprise me that batteries have a tough time surviving. Get a float maintenance type charge (BATTERY TENDER or CTEK) and use it for periods of non use. It'll maintain the battery up to full power at all times...don't forget to unplug it when you leave...

Well if anybody READ his first post did anyone note the words"aftermarket stereo"?

Could the poster also have a nice big amp or other goodies that may have been improperly installed thus killing the battery????????????

Funny I have had several new GM trucks along with new Cadillacs and

have never had a dead battery issue............

The DBS dead battery syndrome problem for GM is a new one on me!

We have had our 2006 GMC Sierra Denali for 13 months now and the battery has gone dead twice but that is after not starting it for a month or more. I talked to two different dealers and they told me with all the computers in them that they need to be started at least once a week.
