Exhaust Question

I have a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado Ext. Cab, V-8, 5.3, 1/2 ton and the other day i ran over a rock and it dented the exhaust pipes. I took it to a muffler shop and the guy said that he saw the exhause leak right where the manifold connects to the exhaust pipe, and he also said that the flange was leaking too. My dad checked it out before he did and he said that the flange was fine and that the only problem was the exhaust leak and that all we had to do would be a new exhaust pipe that starts from the manifold and ends at the muffler. The only problem is that this pipe holds the catlyic converter and no local stores sell this pipe. So would i have to go to the dealer and get this pipe and does this problem sound like its the flange or just the exhaust leak.

we are not there so hard to say. there is a copper looking gasket between the flange of the pipe and the exhaust manifold flange, i dont think that this would get damaged by hitting a rock. if u gotta change the pipe its a dealer item and is expensive because of the converter. Maybe a local exhaust shop can make a pipe for u and save your converter. As far as the leak you gotta jack it up, start it and check if you can feel an exhaust leak. There are other ways but this is probably the best for u.
