Fog Light Bulb Question

I have the factory fog lights and was wondering what the highest wattage bulb you can run (Silverstars preferably) in the housings whtout melting the lens.

Does anyone know the wattage for the factory bulbs?

Thanks,

The stock ones should be 880s that are 27watts. I put in Silverstar 893STs that are 38 watts and no problems. They are much bright than the stock bulbs. I think they make even a higher watt bulb that will fit too, but I didn't want to jack up the wattage too much. I use PIAAs for my highs & lows, but its easier to get Silverstars from the local parts store instead of mail order.

Thanks for the info. Now that I know the wattage capacity (and part#) I can go buy the Silverstars.

I also have the 38's, in a Silverstar as a matter of fact. No issues. I have heard of others with higher watt bulbs having melting problems.

I've been running the Silverstars for six months now (about 10,o000 miles) and I usually turn on my fogs while driving. No problems at all.

On my old 04 colorado i couldn't find the right bulbs for the fog lights so I managed to fit Streetglow 9006 80 watt bulbs. I also had Streetglow's 80 watt in my high and low beams, everyone and their mother would flash their brights at me. I adjusted the hight of my headlights and had 18-wheelers flash me. I had that truck for 2 yrs and never had one problem. The only problem i had was slack in the driveshaft's u-joint from to much power-braking.
