Avalanche Vs. Silverado

I have been looking at both avalanches and silverado's...I had a 2004 avalanche and liked it...I think the avalanche looks alot sleeker then the silverado does...I know everyone will probably say the silverado is soo much better....but what is the actual difference? a 5.3 with 3.73's in both trucks...I really like the bermuda blue color, it looks awesome and not many people have it around here. thanks!

Besides the obvious bed differences? Coil sprung rear suspension.

Buy whichever one suits you best. Both are great trucks!!

Edit: Steve, I just realized it was you. Did you cancel your order for the Silvy? Still can't find a GMC or are you changing your mind? I thought you were set on a GMC you found???

well I went to PA and test drove a GMC same as yours, and the guy was screwin me on sales tax, tellin me I gotta pay tax on 36k....I said forget it, I'll buy an avalanche and take 3k in rebates and only pay tax on 10k.....I had an 04 and liked it, it will suit me fine....I'd still like the 6.0 but it's just not meant to be I guess!!!!

How about a 6.0 Avalanche? Not sure how many are out there, but they do make'em. Gotta get 4.10's with it though.

Just make sure that you are getting what you want. 35K is too much money to have to "settle" for anything less.

Also had a Z71 '04 AV and loved it, saw the '07 updates and HATED the direction the General is taking the AV. Went out and bought a '07 Tahoe and quickly found it wasn't for me for many of the same reasons I dislike the '07 AV's. Traded in the tahoe for a '07 Silverado and can not be happier. The AV prior to '07 was a full size truck, now with all the changes IMO it's a pimped up wantabe caddy EXT, with SUV written all over it. The AV went from "Like a Rock" to watch out for anything other than level pavement. Cheap painted plastic bumpers, practically dragging the ground? Fake wood trim? That center dash section which makes 3 across a front bench seat impossible? To me the qualities, capabilities and style I loved about the '04 Z71 AV are no longer found in the '07 AV (or tahoe) lineup. The '07 Silverado carries on the qualities, capabilities and style I'm looking for. Want more go and less show.

to get the 6.0 in the AV I think u need to get the LT3 which makes it a 40k plus truck.....Right now I'm driving an 05 Z71 tahoe, I'd be happy with it if I could throw my dirtbike in it and some other stuff when I need to. I wouldn't even get rid of it if I could do that! lol....I dont really go offroading so I dont need a mud throwing monster, snow is the only slick obstacle I face here in NY....I think it'll be a smoother, sleeker looking truck especially with my 24's on it....Should be picking it up thursday....I did pretty good though, stickers for 38k, GMS brings it to 34k and 3k in rebates! and it comes with 20's! And the flip flop bermuda blue paint is very cool looking. Also I got the one with the split bench in front, so I can have 3 people in front, or my wife can "get a little closer"!!!

ok I'm having last minute thoughts........I am not sure if I should go with the avalanche in bermuda blue, or get a black one....then I'm having second thoughts if I should get the silverado/sierra instead!!!!!!!!!! Someone help me I have to make a decision by morning!

What do you want to do with the truck? Do you just pull a trailer, and carry people or do you need it to do some work like hauling as well? If you just want a cruiser get the Av. If you even think you might be needing the full size bed get the pickup.

imo-the pickup is going to get you a little better milage.

IMO, you need to step back and put off buying anything for a little while until you figure out what you really want. Sounds to me like your rushing into this. I was shopping Avs a year ago and was "on the fence" between a Avalanche and another pick-up. So, I stopped shopping altogether and thought it over for awhile. Best decision I could have made, because after the dust settled, the choice was clear. The Crewcab was the best choice for me based on my useage. Not saying you should buy a crewcab, all I am saying is take your time and make sure you are buying what's best for you. On the other hand, I really don't think you can go wrong with either truck, they are both nice and most likely very equal as far as what you can do with them (tow, haul, etc). Good Luck!

ok I went and test drove both of them today....I HATED the AV....I had an 04 AV but in my opinion, the 07 does not drive like a 4 wheel drive truck....It steers sloppy, brakes sloppy, blows around in the wind, and has no balls...I drove the crew cab silverado 5.3 right after it and fell in love with it compared to the AV....It's no 6.0 but it's not as far off as I would have thought...Steering and brakes feel great, and has plenty of power..I will be family hauling and driving to work daily, and towing a car to shows about 4 times a year...I should be picking it up tomorrow if all goes well. Black/black silverado crew cab, z71, 3.73's,.....I like it!!!! Way more manly of a truck then the AV. I think my tahoe feels more like a truck then the AV did...IMO it was terrible...I thought I was driving a mini van! I like the front bumper better though...Talk to ya guys later!

I've heard that the Avalanche is actually built on the Tahoe frame. A friend of mine got rid of his Silverado a couple years back and bought an Avalanche instead. I liked it just fine but I would still rather have my truck.

Couldn't be happier with my 04 CC. I really like the front bench for when I need to get 6 in the truck and with my bed cover I can haul (almost) anything I want and it stays dry. When I need to (which is rare) I can take the topper off and use it like any other truck.

ok I finally pulled the trigger and bought a NBS crew cab black/black z71 silverado!!!! It only has the 5.3 but is alot peppier then I thought it would be...I drove the 6.0 and it didn't even squeel the tires, mine will roast them if I punch it...5.3 seems to have more low end get up, but 6.0 will pull away on top end from what I have experienced...My silverado is the best truck I've ever driven! Couldn't be happier

Isn't the Avalanche just a Suburban with a pickup-style body on it? I'm under the impression that this was always the case ... Avalanches and Suburbans are mechanically identical.

Am I wrong?
