2007 Nbs 2500hd Driver Information Center (dic) Upgrade?

Over in the light truck forum (here) there is a discussion on upgrading the 2007 Sierra's from the odometer basic Driver Information Center (DIC) to full function DIC by simply adding the side vent panel with the buttons and connecting up an existing and unused wiring harness plug. I've removed my side panel and cannot find anything that could be plugged into a new side panel with DIC buttons. Have any 2500HD owners succeeded at this and can point me where to look? Either because this is a 1LT or because it is a 2500HD I'm beginning to think this harness does not exist.

When I popped my dash panel off, I had a hell of a time finding the harness to plug into the switch too... till I realized the harness was plugged into the back of the panel the whole time. I thought it was a second harness to the headlamp switch. Its not. It just hangs off the back.

Rolling...thanks!! That was exactly my problem. I guess I was trying to make this too complicated.

To help others - there are two connectors on the back of my 2500HD 1LT panel. One connector is 2 rows of 8 pins (16 pins total) with 10 wires and connects to the internal and external light switch module. The second connector is 1 row of 5 pins, and appears to plug into a connector just to the side of the light module. It almost looks like it is the connector for the internal light switch. However remove this connector and you will see it is just plugged into a plastic housing. This is the DIC button connector.

Thanks to everyones help. (and patience). This is a great upgrade for the price.
