Here's What It Takes For A Complete Stereo Install

After 16 hours everything is in. WOW, I'm hearing stuff in music that I've never heard before. I was worried about how hard those 10" subs would hit....well now I can feel the music!

Everything came out of the front except the front seats.

Here's the amps and the mounting board that I had to make for them. It's just a a 12"x36" piece of 3/4" plywood fastened to the back of the cab with liquid nails.

Yes, 6x9's can fit into the doors (with a LOT of trimming); AND the factory tweeters can be retained.

Can we say full workbench?

Sorry I wasn't able to get some pics of the wiring routing and head unit but the batteries in the camera died.

Messy benches after stereo installs must run in the Wingnut line.

I just added a roll-around to the pic :banghead:

Yea, yea I know about the components, but that's what I had on hand. Eventually most of it will be replaced as finances allow. But it sounds pretty dang good considering what the factroy stuff sounded like. :chevrolet:

Naw, I didn't have to have that $80 connector because it's a 99. I just unhooked all the factory stuff, wired up the head unit to the adapter to the factory harness and put everything together. The things that ate up the most time were trying to figure out how all the panels and consoles came of with out destroying them, letting the liquid nails dry enough to hold the amps, putting the 6x9's in the doors and then putting it all back together. Actually, the easiest part was replacing the wimpy 4x6's in the back with a set of Memphis Audio 4x6's. A simple pull and replace and then just plug the wiring into their included crossover.

I got the box from a local audio shop, but I think sub thump has one at a pretty reasonable price. Shipping might run a few $$ though. That box is big and kinda heavy.

Who made that box, sure looks prettier than the one I crafted. Makes mine look like I made it out of wet card board and blue rat furr.

Just got a new box from Kruzinaudio on e-bay, look them up, nice carpeted box, can hold either 10's or 12's for 62 bucks and 46 shipping. well worth it
