Reverse Lights

This topic didn't really fit anywhere else. Does anyone know of any way to increase the light behind me when I put my truck in reverse? I can't see a thing at night. Is there anything I can add on that would put some sort of "reverse headlights" on there?

The easiest thing would be to add a small set of driving lights, wired into the backup lights.

Ya could have them switched, so if ya don't need them you can turn them off. Would be a little more work, but not much.

http://www.cruiserstainless.com They make a light setup that fits over the trailer hitch receiver (still allows use of the receiver), that gives you several options, including additional backup lighting.

You could also hook up some driving lights, that kick on with your backups, but you really should use a relay on that setup, and also a diode if you have them switched, so you don't backfeed the factory backups and cause issues.

I added some driving lighgts mounted on bottom of the bumper. I powered them through the back up light circuit. I also ran a wire from my trailer 12volt power circuit to a switch to the lights. I mounted the switch under the bed rail. Soooo, that at night when trying to hook up a traiuer I could put the truck in reverse and both sets of lights would come on, then once put in park, and the reverse circuit was no longer powered I could hit the switch in the bed and turn them back on through the other circuit. This back fed the reverse light circuit. I guess I lucked out and never burnt anything up. It worked pretty good. I gave myself a beer when I finished it.

I traded my stock tail light covers for Euro style tail lights, with chrome around the reverse lights. Wow, really lights things up when backing up. If you are behind the truck as it is backing up, it's almost as if they are running lights, maybe even brighter. Plenty of light.
