Savage420 Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Hey guys, im just wondering where my A/C filter is located on my 2002 sierra 2500HD is? When i turn on my A/C it seems like that filter is plugged up cause it dosen't blow hard, but is still real cool feeling. Im hopeing its just a old and plugged filter, what do you think the problem is and where is it...under the dash i think?
Savage420 Posted July 15, 2007 Author Posted July 15, 2007 I just looked under the dash on the passenger side and it dosent look like there is one there or under the hood.
Genuinefine409 Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 I just looked under the dash on the passenger side and it dosent look like there is one there or under the hood. According to my Haynes manual, it should be under the center of the instrument panel. There should be a screw securing a cover, then pull down the access cover at the bottom right of the housing surrounding the evaporator core. The filters should slide right out.
Black02Silverado Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Your truck should take the wix 24805 incab filter. You can find it located here. When you get to this look up the 24805 filter.

Thanx but that link didn't work for me, its so d**n hot here im sure that filter is plugged up with dust and dirt from the roads.
Black02Silverado Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 There was a place on this forum showing how to change it out and now I can't find it. It should be located up under the passenger side of the dash. You will have to take down a cover and then look for a another compartment door just above where the passengers left foot would be. It is a cover about 2 inches wide and about 8 to 10 inches long. There will be two filters up inside. I wonder why that link didn't work. You can always go to the AMSOIL web page, click on Online Product Application Guide and there is a link at the top of that page that has cabin air filter installations and look for your part number 24805.
cbxeric Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 There is a bunch of screws to remove, then the cover comes off to expose the hvac stuff under the dash. Canadian tire sells the filters (Micron Air code 23-3808-8) pkg of 2 costs 40$ comes with fairly good instructions which show the location of the filter.
ATMINF Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Do all trucks that have AC, have this filter? I have a 2006 2500HD that is pretty bare bones, it does have AC though.
ZZ327 Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 all pickups dont have it. on the 02 2500hds It is under the glovebox inside that black blower box . First you have to take out about 6 screws or so to get that black sound cover off. Then behind that youll see a 2x6 little door { about the center of the box}. Pull it off and youll see the filters. Make sure you get BOTH of them out.
Savage420 Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Ok thanx alot guys , i found the filters on the Amsoil site. I will proly get them from Crappy-tire thou cause its close, then this weekend i will change them out. So there under the big black cover EH well that why i didn't see where the filters went. ...there are two to replace tho right???
Black02Silverado Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Yep, there are two filters. Easy to do. Glad you found them. If you do have them you will be amazed at what you will find and how clogged they can be.
cbxeric Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I believe the filters were deleted in 03. Of course I only changed out one filter so under the dash I go....again.
