AFD256 Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 My father has a 2002 2wd CrewCab 2500HD with the tow package thinking after her retired he tow his camper around the country. After 34 years of crawling on his knees, he found a nice spot in upstate NY and parked his trailer. My question is can I take his hitch and put it on my truck, a 1500 4wd ext cab? I know the towing capcity are extremly different- 7300 vs. a mountain. but in the intrest of save a couple bucks would it work?
C & A s Dad Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Not completely sure, but I think you are going to find the mounting area at the frame is going to be very different between the two.

Go to an aftermarket company and see if it it the same part numbers for both trucks.
leboyd Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 It's unlikely it will bolt up. You might remove it, sell it on ebay and then purchase one of a junk yard.
wages999 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 When my brother still had his 2002 2500HD, we compared the hitches and they looked exactly the same. Wouldn't hurt to try to put it on.
camperboy Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Like previously said, take it off take measure the bolt holes and check your frame.
