Hey guy's im new here. Well i went into the local dealership a few weeks ago to order a Nbs Silverado. Turns out its gonna be a 2008 cause i guess 07's cant be ordered anymore. Anyway's im guessing its gonna look all but exactly like the 07's, has anyone seen the 08's yet? Just contacted the dealer this weekend to see if they had any idea when it was going to show up, and they said that the computer was telling him that they just started building it on this past saturday. But.... he said he didnt think that it was right. Is there anyone else out there who has ordered an 08 that might know when they're gonna start building them? Cant wait to get it, first big purchase i've made. Hoping the dealer calls me on my birthday this thursday telling me the truck is in, not counting on it though :D . Regardless im turning 21 and i dont think that ill be in any condition to drive a vehicle though  Looking forward to your replies, Thanks

They have already started to arrive! I saw an 08 CrewCab Vmax on my dealer's lot two weeks ago. From what I could see the only change was the gas mileage rating on the window sticker!

Even with dealers getting trucks in they cant sell them. Pricing wont be released until September. This is from my sales manager. Last year the trucks werent released until October.

I just called a dealer I shop with and was told I can indeed buy an 08 Silverado this very day. He has several in stock, out front on the lot and they are priced and ready to sell. Two of them are that sweet Cherry color.

Better or worse?

Worse, but I don't recall the exact numbers. They are using the new EPA system that's supposed to more realistically reflect actual milage. All the 08's will be figured using this new method, so there will probably be a drop in posted MPG on all verhicles.

How Fuel Economy Estimates Will Change from Today s Labels

Under EPA’s proposal, the new fuel economy estimates would be lower for most vehicles. This is not because auto makers have designed the same vehicles to be less fuel efficient—it is because our new test methods take into account factors that have been missing or not fully accounted for in the current tests. Because some vehicles are more sensitive to these factors than others, the impact of the proposed changes will vary from vehicle to vehicle. The city MPG estimates for conventional (non-hybrid) vehicles would drop on average by about 10-20 percent from today's labels, while the highway estimates would drop by about 5-15 percent, depending on the vehicle.

For hybrid vehicles, the city MPG estimates would drop 20-30 percent from today's labels. For highway MPG estimates, the change is about the same as for conventional vehicles. The nature of current hybrid technology—the addition of a battery as a second source of on-board power, sophisticated control systems, and sometimes a smaller engine—makes a hybrid’s fuel economy more sensitive to certain factors, such as colder weather and air conditioning use. However, many hybrid models will remain among the most fuel-efficient vehicles on the market

An 08 2-whl drive Silverado with the 5.3 V8 with the Active Fuel Management System (v4/V8) will show 2mpg less on highway...goes from 22 to 20.

haven't seen the 4whl drive sticker yet....

Hmmm, I seem to recall the window sticker on my 2007 2WD w/5.3L Active Fuel V8 only showing 16 City/20 Highway! I'll have to check when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it didn't say 22 MPG Highway!

Don't take my word for cash and spend it but I'm sure the price increase (if there is one) is small. BTW the cherry color is AWESOME!!! I thought people were exaggerating when they said it was one of their better looking colors.
