Integrated Brake Controller

Had a wild thought that after more consideration doesn't seem so wild.

Could one install the factory trailer brake controller in to a truck that did not originally come with it?

I know I would need the controller, dash bezel, possibly a pigtail, and reprogram the BCM.

Would it really be this easy?

Is my truck likely prewired from the aspect of buy the control, maybe a pigtail to go from the control and it wires to the factory provided trailer brake control wires (blunt cut under the dash). Are there other wires to or from it?

Is a halfton BCM capable of running it? Does it require a BCM reflash? Any insight is appreciated.

More so... The dash panel is completely different, to keep others from making one that fits there.

In 2008 it looks like the IBC will be an option for the 1500 models.

nope there is a tech article saying no way

Could you post the article? I'd like to read the details. Nothing against you of course, I'm just interested in gathering more information.

I meant that one would need the entire dash panel the controller goes in. The entire piece under the steering column. Are you saying the piece currently there could not be replaced by the piece intended to house the controller.

What is the reason it can't be done?
