Bed Liner

When I bought my new truck they gave me a plastic bedliner. I'm really indifferent on how they perform on the surface, but I wasn't fond of the idea of it chaffing the new bed underneath. I also can't afford the 350$ price tag for a spray in liner.

 

My solution was to use a gallon of roll on bedliner, underneath the plastic bedliner. I did all the prep work, scuffing the surface, cleaning, etc. I applied the roll on stuff as per directions, two coats, the second kind of thick. I also did the top of the bed rails. Now that I am done it looks pretty darn good, so that I doubt if I should even bother putting the plastic back in on top of it. I figure I might as well rather than let it go to waste. Thats why I put the roll on in, because I already had it, so might as well use it. Plus if it gets torn up its easy enough to touch up.

 

Sooo, would you guys drop the plastic one back in, or leave it out? I like access to the factory tie downs with it out...

I'd leave it out. Those roll/spray in liners i think are tougher than the drop-in's. Plus your junk won't slide around in the back with roll-in, I hated it when I would stop fast and it felt like whatever was in the back was going to be next to me after it broke throug the chair back. I still can't believe the spray in's are so expensive, they have been out a couple of years and it seems like everyone is doing them, when are the prices gonna drop?

I'd leave it out. Those roll/spray in liners i think are tougher than the drop-in's. Plus your junk won't slide around in the back with roll-in, I hated it when I would stop fast and it felt like whatever was in the back was going to be next to me after it broke throug the chair back. Line-X is worth every penny. $400 is not that bad IMO.

And it will never look as good as a Line-X and a Line-X will last longer than those 5 times put together. Plus, it has a lifetime warranty. So, if you do gouge it somehow, it gets fixed for free.

Ahhh, looks are subjective. It really looks pretty good, new. I also give myself a discount so my time repairing it is paid in Beer. I don't keep my vehicles a life time any ways.

When I pulled the plastic liner out of my Silverado...I stuck it in my buddies truck (he didn't know it until he saw it in there) because I knew he was trading it in. Those things are a bear to get rid of.

 

So I say...Make a fort out of it.

I guess I could glue the tail gate piece on it and patch the tie down holes and use it as a swimming pool. Errr, uh, Coy Pond.... OK, test location for my R/C Boat.

Not a bad idea, but you might want to caulk the seams of it. You might also want a cover, because mosquitos will get in and lay eggs and that is never any fun. I know I'm speaking for my area, but around here standing water outside is almost never a good idea.
