Nbs 2 Inch Shackle Drop

For those that were wondering how much it gives you...Here you go.

DJM shackles - $45 + shipping.

Takes about an hour or so.

The instructions don't say anything about it, and others have said that they didn't have to...But on both trucks I did, I had to unbolt the bed from the frame (removed the rear 4 bolts, and loosened the front 4) in order to get the top bolts in the shackles high enough to clear the frame for removal. No big deal, they're easily accessible and it only takes 5 minutes (I use impacts, so it's faster :loser: )

Looks alot better Wing. :loser:

From the looks of the before pic, It you tap the brakes the rear of the truck would lift off the ground.

I did the shackle drop on mine and the rear end is STILL way too high. The after pic looks like a before pic should look! I think I'm going back to the drawing board.

More to come.

I think so too...It needs to go down another inch and a half at least. You said that you were going to pull the blocks out of yours? Let me know how that goes.

looks good man...but it does still sit too high.

What about doing an axle over. That should drop you down a bit more. You may have to go back to the stock shackles with this though...you should get a 3.5" drop out of an axle over.

Looks good, but as others have said it needs to go lower.

I do not understand why they need to have the back ends of the new trucks sit so high. I am not sure that there is anyone that really likes the look of them that way, I just think that nobody does anything about it.

I'll do it next weekend. We are gone racing in Houston this weekend. I'll certainly let ya know how it goes.

I agree that you would get a lot of drop but the bump stops would be almost touching... Might have to dial up Jegs.com and get some shorter ones. I wonder if the old body flip kits will work on the NBS stuff?

Shorter bump-stops?

Just bust out the hacksaw and lop the tips off. :puke:

i have an 07 nbs ex cab ... just from measuring .. mine would have to come down almost 4 in the back to make it level with the front ... so i think i am going to end up going with a front / rear drop .. to level it all out ...

Thats what I was going to suggest wing.

As for why they are so high, I think I know the exact reason for that.

Theres pics of my rear end after an accident with a 4x4 f-150. If my rear was dropped, it would have done a lot more damage to the box.

It seems to me that the rear has to be as high as the front end of a similar size vehicle so as to absorb the hit in the chassis rather than the body work.

After this accident I know I am definitely going to raise the front of my truck to make it level rather than dropping the rear.

I'm not a betting man...But I'd bet a dollar that it's more for mileage reasons. Somebody figured out that if they stuck it's butt in the air, it would get .05 MPG better or something.

That sounds about right. I remember measuring, thinking the same thing.

But hey...Not my trucks. I work on coworkers cars/trucks for beer. Expensive beer. :chevrolet:

Wing..... I pulled the rear blocks out of mine it rides fine and looks a lot better. It drops it about 1 inch and you will need to get new u bolts. I had my local spring shop make some up for me $25.00 for all 4.
