Who's Removed The Lower Airdam/valance?

When I have my airdam off while painting, I thought the truck had a more aggressive stance. You saw the hooks and the skid plate. I like'd it.

On my NBS I took it off day 1 and I put it back on within a week. easy to take off and reinstall. I like the looks better with it off, but it seemed like I lost MPG and I'm glad I'm not the only one to have this idea. It seemed like it didn't go into V4 as much but I could be wrong. These NBS trucks are awesome and I love nearly everything about them but I thought that the MPG was improving with the displacement on demand but mine gets worse gas mileage. Unless the computer is lying. I will probably lose the front valence but due to a cotton stalk ripping it from the bumper, then I will just deal with it. If you look at pics of lifted trucks on their(superlift, fabtech, rancho,ect....) all their lifted trucks retain the front valence. What gets me is that the tahoes and avalanches and 2500s dont have them. go figure. I noticed a drop twice so I am leaving it up to yall.

I removed the lower air dam and found a very small mpg difference. Around .5 mpg on the highway. I like the look better and I like the truck to have more clearance in front than my '89 Celebrity. Seriously, that's what you have stock. Anyway, I plan on leaving it off.

not yet.............have you priced a new one?

mine has the usual mounting holes for the stupid front license plate, and that's gotta go.

I don't remember my front license plate bracket mounting to the lower piece. I am talking about the very bottom. Used to be the "Chin Spoiler" on the GMT 800's.

I plan on keeping the piece directly below the chrome center bar, the part with the tow hooks in it. This part will stay. The piece below that will be taken off. It is below the painted end caps, and below the piece under the chrome center section.

Does anyone have pics of this removed? I am considering removing mine and nothing helps like a nice pic or two.

Thanks,

Daddy

I would snap a few for you, but I put mine back after the MPG loss. I removed only the chin spoiler as the fellow above me posted. No mounting points for the tag on this piece. I left the tag on and it looked really good. If there was no difference on or off that pile would be in storage.

By the way, mine is a NBS chevy, not GMC but should be the same. My little bro and me both got new ones about the same time. He has a black gmc z71 CC(NBS) and I have a white chevy z71 CC. I tried to get him to remove his to see if any mpg loss but he didnt. It is easy to remove, takes only a min or two. Remove it and run a couple tanks and report back.

I removed mine because my ramps wouldn't fit under it when I changed the oil.I left it off for awhile, but I like the looks better with it on.I'm not sure how it will work out in the winter when I go out in the morning and snow is piled up to the bumper.

By the way, I don't wash my truck every week so ignore the dust!

I removed mine when I ripped it off backing over a shrub trying to move a friend, which I regret becuase it's easy enough so you can just snap it on when you plan on taking a trip and take it off when hunting time comes around!

Just went and removed mine because I read this thread, took 30 seconds. Looks WAY better in my opinion, mine is staying off!! Took these pics with camera phone so they're not the best.0814071835at4.jpg

I also just took mine off. I've been thinking of doin it for a while. I like it. Chepp way to lift the front. I'll just keep it and put it on when I drive a long way. It took more than 30 secs for me though. 5 mins. Here's some pics.:cheers::flag:
