Hello, everyone.  I thought I'd jump over here from Pickuptruck.com and see what was going on.  Has anyone seen the GMT-560's yet?  They are supposed to show up at the dealerships any time now.......

Bringing this back to the top.  Don't have anymore info then what was on the diesel page several months ago, but I have a big problem with what I have read so far.

Why in the heck did GM not use the Silverado/Sierra cabs on the 4500 and 5500?  I can't even count the number of people that would be in line for a SFA 4X4 4500 if it had the Silverado cab on it.  I'd be one of them, especially if they would put a pickup bed on it!!!!

rich people would be in line, a truck like that would run for no less than 50 thou.

They shouldn't cost any more than the 3500's!  $50,000,,,,  Give me  a break :D

   I'll go elsewhere..

a lot of the ford 650s and 750s w/ 4wd sell for that much.  keep in mind these trucks have very big engines and transmissions that cost a whole lot more than the 6.6dmax and 8.1 BB

ooo, oops i misread, he said 4500, those would prolly go in the 30s.  i was thinking like 6500/7500 trucks

The GMT560’s are scheduled to make their presents on dealer’s lots sometime around February. At this point it is no secret the new truck will boast G-Van sheet metal for a few reasons.

The new medium duty is split up into two different categories:  16,000 to 19,500 GVWR and 19,501 to 61,100 GVWR.  The new medium duties below 19,501 will offer over 17 different wheelbases ranging from 128’’ to 259”.  I am not sure about the 19, 501 through 61,000 but there will probably be even more choices.  They will be offered in only two different body styles, conventional cab and crew cab…no extended cab model will be offered.  Two different engines will initially be offered, the L18 8.1L and the LB7 Duramax diesel.

The GMT560 will offer both steel and aluminum wheels from the factory with either 19.5 or 22” rubber mounted on them.

The Vin designation will be as follows:

1. Division: Chev or GMC…C or T

2. Model line C or T Series

3. GVW range

4. Cab Style: Conventional, Crew, Motorhome or Commercial Cutaway

5. check digit

6. 6 and 7 will designate chassis type:  42 for 4x2, 44 for 4x4, 64 for tandem axle and 66 for 6x6.

I imagine every one will want to know about the 4x4.  You will all have to wait until 2004 model year for the 4x4 model.  Yes, it will be a solid front axle from a yet disclosed supplier….maybe Dana..maybe AAM…maybe ZF…I dunno, only time will tell..
