Two Quick Questions For Ya

Guys: My wife took the truck for the weekend, to go to a wedding 230 miles away. On the way home today she sais somebody was screwing with her on the highway so she gunned it. She claims that she had the truck up to 118-120 mph. Is she BS'ing me, I thought these trucks had a top speed limiter. The truck is totally stock. Also the truck is black. What would be involved and cost do ya think to repaint the truck silver? I won't go into reasons, just thinking about it. Would going to a GM dealer bodyshop be the best place if I wanted it factory silver or some other factory color?

I know 800s top speed limiter was somewhere in the 98-99 range. As for the painting, an independent shop can repaint it a factory color if that is what you want and should cost if done properly anywhere from 8000+.

Wow, that much for a repaint, that's sick. I had the truck to 103 or so and could have kept going, this was a few months ago.

Well, if it were me, that's the last time my wife would take my truck anywhere! Are you getting it repainted so you can park it down the street and tell your wife you no longer have the truck so she doesn't borrow it again and go drag racing on the local highways?

I guess GM changed it on the 900s. Anyway the price is something I saw elsewhere on the site. Someone had to get a repaint B/C of the thin paint problem GM had on the trucks coming out of one plant, and that is how much someone said. Oh ya, I know why you want to repaint. That was your truck that was on the news with the stolen ATM wasn't it. Darn thievin kids.

I just talked to her again and fabricated saying that the truck has a top speed limiter of 105. She said no way, she had the truck up to 118-120, she's adament about it.

I can assure you that these new trucks have a speed limiter set at 98 MPH. I have the Edge and the tunes are all pre-set to 98mph. I upped mine to 110, even though I never intend to go that fast, I just like knowing I can.

Maybe she was reading the KM/hr? lol

Are the tire size OEM & if not was the calibration changed. Look on the tire for the speed rating. Should be

"S 112 mph 180 km/h Family Sedans & Vans"

The tires are stock, the truck only has 11k on it. I'll have to test it myself.

This is the old lady driving that chevy. I had that puppy up to over 105 at least...I am being modest at that. Perhaps you are jealous...I love these 8 cylinder vehicles. I think it is time for my husband to spring for a real vehicle for me. I am going to take her out this week. I will take a picture of my speedometer and will share it with you:)

No jealousy here, I can set my speed limiter to whatever I want.
