Question: If you ordered a truck did you pick a specific engine and why?

Answer: Flexfuel E-85. Because energy prices will always go up and I got a $750 rebate for ordering it.

I special ordered my truck (I'm too pickey to buy off the lot!)

I got the 6-liter,I got it for the power & torque.

I also liked the fact that it also included the "M70" Super-Duty transmission and the 9-1/2" rear-end.

For me the 6-liter was a "no-brainer"

I went with Max Trailering Package for towing my 27' travel trailer. This got me the 6.0L and 4.10's along with other good stuff. Mine was factory ordered since I was willing to wait for exactly what I wanted, and there were barely any 6.0L trucks around early this past spring.

I went for the 6.2-6sp in the Sierra Denali, just for the engine and trans, cause I tow heavy, 8Klbs, part-time, and my experience with the 6.0-4sp-4:10 did not do it for me. I tried the 2500HD route, and it didn't meet my daily driving needs at all. The 6.2-6sp has performed better than expected in the towing heavy department. The 6sp suffers (for me), with some shifting issues, but a minor issue compared to what the whole package does for me. And I bought it off the lot, it came completely loaded with nav, dvd, ect... that i wouldn't have ordered, but since i couldn't wait, plus Denali's don't just come in 6-8 weeks, i had to pay to play. They just made some 08 denali's, so i would have waited 5-6 months.

I ordered the Denali 6.2 for the 403hp and 6-speed. I wanted a loaded 1/2 ton crew-cab anyway but if GM offered this same power train in the Avalanche, I sure would have considered it just for the car-like ride quality. Forget the Escalade and Tahoes! They list for 20-35K more than the Sierra Denali up here in Canada.

When I bought my first truck I made sure it had the 5.3L, this was on my 2006 Silverado. I would have bought the 2006 Vortec Max Silverado, but I didn't know it was available until after I bought my 5.3L. On my 2007 Silverado, I made sure it was a V-Max, because I wanted the 6.0L engine and also because the V-Max came with rear disc brakes, because the 4.8 and 5.3 come with the front disc and rear drum combination and it was an LTZ so that made my choice easier.

Got the 4.8 in my 07 NBS, off the lot. I wanted a new truck, drove this one, actually thought it was nice and quick, and they gave me the deal I wanted. I didn't do much research on 4.8/5.3, I knew the vmax was out there, but it was too expensive for me. For me I didnt feel like I lost out that much, I dont tow anything, its my first truck, first 8 cyl, next time i'll go for more power.

I went for the 5.3L FlexFuel with 4.10 gears.

I don't really tow anything other than a trailer with quads, and I read lots of great things about Vortec 5300 engines (I did my research on this forum and anohther gm truck forum, right before making my decision).

My truck is plenty powerful for me as it is now (stock), and I'm sure in the future, with a couple of simple mods I'll be able to get even more power.

Still, like MikeRS1981, this is my first V8 truck, and maybe I'll go for more power the next time around.

Well, I bought my truck used so I didn't get the opportunity to "order it".

Either way, I only looked at trucks with the 5.3L as I wanted something that I could tow my boat and other stuff with yet still get decent mileage. However, when (if) my Jeep project ever reaches completion I will be ordering a new truck with either the V-Max package (if it's a 1500) or most likely the D-Max as it'll be a 2500/3500. I probably could tow it with the 1500, but I just feel that when that time comes, a 2500/3500 will better suit my needs. For now, the 1500 is fine.

I got the 6.0 liter High Output. I bought my truck brand new in 2005 off of the lot, and it came with every option I could get for my truck except leather (which I didn't want anyway) and power passenger side seat (which I don't need if I'm driving). Why did I choose this truck... Why not? As a great man once said..."I wanna go fast!!"" - Rick Bobby :driving:

We were looking for an '07 LTZ crew cab in a specific color with the 5.3L flex fuel. We realized there are no flex fuel stations in northern AZ at this time anyway...a not so well liked state legislator is supposed to be building a station in the future.

So, with that in mind and that we couldn't find the color we wanted except 900 miles away, we selected a truck off the lot. We couldn't be happier with our '07 Silverado crew cab LTZ, Graystone Metallic, 1/2 ton, 2wd...oh, yeah...got it with the 6.0L motor!

"Why?"...it was the only LTZ crew cab on the lot with the options we specified, except for the 5.3L motor...
