Left-over 07? Or New 08?

Been seriously debating on picking up a NBS extended cab pickup.

I am a GM employee; I work at a large GM dealer. I qualify for Employee Pricing.

We currently have 5 left-over 07 Ext Cabs; of which one or two interest me.

We currently also have alot of 08 Ext Cabs; and we just got in a 2008 Ext Cab 4x4 Z71 SLE-2 in all black. Really interests me.

Here's the deal.

2007 Ext Cabs have $2000 cash rebate.

2008 Ext Cabs -already- have $1500 cash rebate.

More sense to go with a '08 model??

If you're going to drive it a bajillion miles until the wheels fall off, go with the '07.

If you're like a normal person and will be getting rid of it in 2-3 years, get the '08.

The '07s are already a "year" old. Purposely waited for the 2008s to come out when I bought mine.

If your actual bottom line cost difference is only $500.00 you should more than make that up when it comes time to trade or sell a one year newer truck. A full year (NADA value wise) is a lot more than 500 bucks.

I say get the 08. IMO the cost difference would have to be at least 1500 for me to consider the 07 but I trade every few years. It becomes a toss up if you intend to keep it until the wheels fall off.

If the one that really interests you is only $500.00 more and is a year younger definatley the 08. Unless your big on aftermarket parts and they are making changes to 08's that i'm not aware of not allowing 07 parts to work on it, then got with the 07.

+1 for the '08. Especially if it really interests you and is only a few hundred dollars more. Sounds like an awesome truck.

Unless you are paying cash, the 07 I believe still has 0% money, if you are going to own it at least 2 years the 0% will outway the rebate. Also I could not tell by the chevy website, but I though the 07 had a regular rebate of 2000.00 and I thought there was a 1000.00 bonus cash till the end of the month. The 08 would be my recomendation unless you plan to own it several years and plan to finance then I would take the 07 and the 0%

My guess is that (like any GM rebate deal) and its applied after you've decided what the price of the truck is.

In that, the rebate is applied when you actually go to pay for the truck...

So the prudent thing to do would be to find out what the price of the 08 and 07 trucks are first.... then once you got the prices on them, apply the rebates to see what your drive-out price is.

Then once you got the drive-out prices, you can figure out which the best deal is.

Like someone else said if you buy a vehicle and keep it - buy the cheapest one as they are basically the same. If your someone who turns over vehicles every 3 years or less buy the '08 I think you would make up the difference.

Get the 08 unless the price difference is too high. Another year to get bugs out, etc. My dealer emailed me this morning and said that the 60 months 0% financing is good for both 07 and 08 now.

Just remember, there is a bit more negotiating that can happen with the 07s. For me, it was the fact that (even without taking the rebates), I got a 36200 truck for 32500 and the 1.9 APR. Couldn't do that with an 08. Just some things to consider.
