We've had this plastic black toolbox sitting on the property 10+ years. I used to have one in my S10 and i loved it. There's so much use for one. Its like extending your cab. It can even be used as a trunk.

The problem is, we lost the key to it years ago, so it doesnt lock. It has the classic push button with key lock, as most do.

Is this something i can take to a locksmith, and they can make a key for it without a key? Or should i pretty much just throw the box out and buy something new?

I figured its a free box, why not?

Can you get the serial number off of it and who its made by? You might be able to contact the people that made it and give them the serial number and they might be able to send you a key, as far as the locksmith, he might me able to make you a key but he may have to take the locking cylinder apart, I dont know.

If there is a number and brand on the lock itself, a locksmith will be able to make you a key. Had the same thing happen with a filing cabinet...no key, but it had a number on the outside of the lock. Gave that to the locksmith and he made me 2 different keys, one of which worked. Cost about 2 bucks.
