2" Rear Drop

Here are some pics of the 2" drop I put on my truck. It took me and a friend 3 hours and it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. The hardest part was getting the bolt out of the shackle, it hits the frame and makes it a pain in the a** to do. Also you need to remove the towe hich if you have one. But it was worth it my truck rides a lot better now I don’t feel like my rear it way up in the air.

When I did my drop shackles, the upper bolts were a little tough coming out. While they were out, I ground down one of the flats on the head of the bolt until it was even with the shank. Going back in was a snap.

Nope sorry, I just took the pics so I could show the difference in the rear of it. But for 3 hours of my time and $55 it was worth it just in the way it rides now.

i'm a newb

what's the reasoning behind this? is it for a better ride or cosmetic?

i would think a 2" front levelling kit would do the same (if im not mistaken - levlling kit is probably more $?)

I don't know if it would ride better, but I know they handle better. It is just a different look. The same way you have people that drop their trucks all the way to the ground, and others lift them to the sky. Some people want the look of a dropped truck, but don't have the money to do that and then get another vehicle for a daily driver.

I like it.

Where did you get the shackles? I have a 4x4 but not interested in lifting the front. My better 1/2 says its to high anyways.

Orielies(yea spelled wrong) and autozone carry Beltech shackles in stock for 1988-2008 fullsize trucks. Same part#. go for a bit over 65 dollars.

The bolts come right out of the shackle if you loosen most of the bed bolts and remove the rear 4...So you can jack the bed off the frame an inch or so. Takes less than 5 minutes, and saves TONS of hassle.
