06 Sierra To 06 Silverado Conversion?

Well, I wanted a Silverado when I sold my Xtreme, but they were either all gone, too expensive or had 4.3's in them. So, I bought my 07 Classic Sierra. So anyway, I had this totally insane idea about changing my Sierra into a Silverado. It's probably way too much trouble and money to do, but what all would I need? I have the list below, please feel free to add to it...

2006 Silverado Grille, front bumper with upper/lower black pieces, wheels, tail lights, head lights, parking lights, hood, radiator support? and front fenders.... Is that it?

I've done a little browsing on ebay and some other sites and it's not too expensive, but it's not too cheap either. Well, like I said, it's just a crazy thought, probably cheaper to buy a Silverado in the long run.....

Possibly doors, if the mating edge differs due to the fenders. Bumber brackets may differ as well as some other hidden components. Some parts may only be available from the dealer or salvage yard. Sounds like a major project. Good luck.

All you need is a front clip. Cab, doors, etc are all the same. You'll need to check and see if the radiator support is different, but the radiator, condenser are the same. Might also check wiring/plugs for the different light setups.

You will need rad support, all lights, grille, bumper assembly with brackets, hood, fenders, and a weekend... Then it's off to the paint shop.

WOO HOO.

Then you'll have a truck that isn't as good looking as a GMC. The front end will officially look like a Japanese man sucking on a lemon.

Good analogy though!

I actually like both the Sierra and the Silverado, classic bodies that is. I doubt the wife will let me spend that much anyway and I'm unsure of what the insurance company would say.... Thanks anyway

It could certainly be done but it would be expensive. Throw a nice billet grille and some tires and wheels on and you'll never think about changing it again!

Enjoy your GMC. You may never go back... heheheh!

What a dumb idea. That is a great way to throw money into the trash and devalue your perfectly good truck. You will NEVER ever see any of that conversion money back again. No one is going to want to buy a Sierra pretending to be a Silverado, sorry.

Hey, pal, I didn't ask for your opinion, I asked how much it would cost and it's not your money so stay out of my threads with your worthless replies! Millions of people waste money on their vehicles everyday!

Why don't just donate the money you would have spent on this, to a good cause, if you have this type of money to blow on such a stupid downgrade? Or better yet, go get a real Silverado!! How about that?

The guy has a point. All be it, it wasn't conveyed in the politest sort of ways. It would probably be much cheaper to actually trade your truck in and get what you want.

Time you buy the sheet metal, lights...etc. you need for the conversion, than get it painted, you'll be into a few G's. Plus the fact that you will never see that money again, and you will get a lowered trade in value because it would be harder to sell.

What would you think if you went and picked out a silverado, than found out that it just had the front clip on it...hmmm wonder why that was done...was it an unreported accident? Stolen with a VIN change?? What else did this guy screw around with...It would definitely not be my first choice If I were looking for a truck.

All in all...you'd probably be looking at a $3000 conversion, and another 3-5 off the value of your truck. If you lose 5G on trading in your truck, your still ahead.

I personally like the look of the Sierra better, But the cost on one was a couple Grand more than I wanted to make payments on.

Yes, I agree with you Nytemare, but mini didn't have to be a jerkoff about it. Back when I owned my 03 Xtreme and wanted to change the clip to a Sonoma, the nice folks at the S10 forums didn't bash me about it, they thought it would be different and cool looking. I also painted the Xtreme, Viper Blue, then when I tried to sell it, everybody kept asking if it was in an accident, because of the paint change? It wasn't, I bought it new. I just had some custom parts on it and the stock Victory Red didn't quit do it, after all the addons. Pics below

Yeah when i bought my 03 Silverado i really wanted a Sierra, but just couldnt find the right truck that said GMC on it.

To bad your not closer to Houston, as id trade you front clips straight up for mine. Ive always felt the GMC's looked better, but thats just me.
