Ok I have a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 nbs with the 5.3 engine. I was wondering if I ever wanted to could I buy one of the 6.2 engines used in the Denali version and put it in my truck and also maybe even the 6 speed transmission used in the Denali version.

  Historically I’ve run about 2 to 1. So two oil changes in the time it takes the OLM to tick over once. I only reset them when the truck starts reminding me to get an oil change and have no use for them. In no cases has the oil I’ve sampled been fit to run twice as long so the OLM is bunk across GM and other makes/models. My experience is that there’s ALWAYS something. Either the TBN is ready to fall off the cliff, fuel dilution too high, viscosity down (shear or dilution). But I suppose if you never actually test, you wouldn’t know.
- Can anyone decode a VIN to determine if this truck has had emissions issues or a recall?

  Boy do they have some margins in that to come down $5000!!!!! Does it change my thoughts? Not really. That's only one thing addressed. The transmission. Still needs an oil pump belt if that hasn't been done yet either, which per the Carfax, looks like no. I still don't like the long service intervals on the oil and the fuel filters. And then still, timing chain because 2020.

  I like things to be more nailed down. For instance. People ask why my father left a multi million dollar business in NJ in the seventies and started over in Texas. The answer is simple, payola, threats and quality of life. He didn’t like the game. And he didn’t want his kids to be wrapped up in that mess. That’s nailed down no guessing.

  So any kind of deviation is not permitted. Even if it manages to touch on Oils Change intervals only if, it addresses your latest thread. Boring.😴

  The tailgate of pickups is not designed to be water tight. There are seal kits for them but I doubt they work effectively. But, I've not tried them. I always have hard folding tonneau covers and the BakFlip brand has been my favorite. And, for the most part, the bed stays dry. I would invest in some bins that can be closed to better protect sensitive stuff.
