Curb Tilt Mirrors

I purchased a 2007 Silverado LT2 with the LT2 convenience package. On the window sticker the package was listed as including Curb-Tilt for the mirrors. For almost a year I have went back and forth with GM and the dealer to get the curb tilt function operative. I was informed that the truck does not have this feature although the sticker states that it does. I was told that it was a mistake on the sticker and there is no way to install this feature that I paid for. The brochure for the 2007 Silverado also states that the LT2 convenience package includes curb-tilt. Are they telling me the truth that it is impossible to install this feature?

Could you please provide the last 8 didgets of your vin. I can tell you if you have the option and how to enable it if you do.

The last 8 are 7Z508177. Thanks for replying. I have a picture of the window sticker I could insert if I could find out how.

Even if the truck doesn't have the option, J paid for the option to have it. The dealership should honor that and install it. I would try escalating this to a next level.

I hope Mike bears good news and it is a simple procedure to get it working.

Good luck.

HI jfepac, Did a little checking and your vehicle shows it does have this option. If you have been dealing with this for a year you probably know all of this but lets just do a little overview and see if it helps out. If not I'll give you a few more options. On your dash shold be a set of 4 DIC buttons that control different settings on your information center (in the center of your cluster). Key on engine off press and release the 2nd button from the top to scroll through the settings. They should go in this order DISPLAY LANGUAGE, AUTO DOOR LOCK, AUTO DOOR UNLOCK, REMOTE DOOR LOCK, REMOTE DOOR UNLOCK, DELAY DOOR LOCK, EXIT LIGHTING, APPROACH LIGHTING, CHIME VOLUME , THEN...FINALLY PARK TILT MIRRORS. When Park tilt mirror is the option press the bottom button(looks like the big check mark) then press that second to the top button again it should have 4 options...off which is the default, driver mirror(tilts only driver mirror) passenger mirror(this is passenger only) both mirrors (obviously both mirrors) and no change. Scroll through till you have the option you want, lets go with both for now, then press the bottom button again, this will turn on the feature. now turn the key off and wait 30 seconds now try starting the truck and going into reverse. One note, on previous models you could program the park tilt mirror to go to any position you programmed in in 2007 the mirror only moves 7% some people complain about this but it is what it is. If none of this looks right, If there is no buttons, if this option fails to come up or if you do all this and it does't work get back to me and be specific about which part was not there or did not work. Also lets not jump the gun and start calling lawyers just yet, thats an option we are far from.

Thanks for the replay.

I have went thru this before and the tilt function is not one of the options. Also a few weeks ago the dealer called me to bring it in so the GM rep could look at it. I took it in and left it for 3 days. They called and told me to pick it up and stated that the GM rep stated that the feature was not installed and could not be installed. What really gripes me is that it has took from the first of feb. just to get this answer and I had to pay 50 bucks for insurance for the 3 days of a loaner car while they looked at it.

K well that sucks...have you tried another dealer? It's not often we get a DM to say something that could get GM in legal trouble. If It's on the sticker it should be there period. I did not mean to go over anything you had been through but you have to start at the beginning, you have no idea how many people fly off the handle having never read the owners manual. I do not want to say your dealer is not being honest not knowing all the facts but I would call 1800gmcares and file a case. According to your vin it should be there according to your sticker it should be there. If it's not then thats a legal problem you have the upper hand on. However just because you can not find it and the dealer cant find it and the DM (who in my experience may or may not have anything more than accounting and management experience) does not mean its not there. Call cares explain the problem. This is not something they want to disappoint you on. I can't give much tech help without hands on this one.

Let me give you a little advice though. As a consumer I know at some point when you are disappointed with a product patience wears thin. The Dealer didnt put that sticker on the mechanic didn't break it and the person you call at cares has nothing to do with the situation other than, here is what you got let me use all I have to resolve it. Bring the honey not the vinegar. If you come into it with patience and understanding you will most likely get what you want. If you call flying off you get what you give. Just my thinking.

We get a ton of valid technical issues never thought of before it comes to light. Someone could come up with a fix.

All that said, If it was on the sticker and it's not there and you want to pursue it then get a good lawyer.

I wish I could help more. I don't like having unhappy customers .

I don't want to throw gas on the flame, but... If I were in your shoes and if that is missing from the truck and it should've been there... I'd be wondering what else isn't there that should be. It seems odd that "it can't be installed" is their answer, though. Maybe you'll get ahold of someone good who pokes around and realizes, "OH! This module isn't plugged in! That's why it wasn't working!"

Let us know how it all turns out. I'll be curious to see how GM Corporate handles it.

OK I called GM customer service and here is what I was told. The rep. I talked to on Friday said he would have to talk to the service manager at the dealer where I purchased the truck and would get back to me yesterday between 11 and 1. Ok thats what I expected. Yesterday another rep. called at noon and said the first guy I talked too was unavailable and she would handle it. She put me on hold while she tried to contact the dealer. She came back online after five minutes and said the service manager was not available. She stated she left him a message and she would call me back today between 1 and 3. Today at 2 another rep. called and said he talked to the service manager and that the truck does not have the curb-tilt feature installed and it was not possible to install it. I explained that the window sticker list that option and the 2007 Silverado brochure list that as a feature of the LT2 convienance package which is listed on the sticker that was on the window when I purchsed the truck. He said the problem was that the truck was supposed to have a revised sticker installed to replace the orginal sticker, but the dealer failed to do it. He also stated the the feature was not going to be installed on my truck and it was basically the dealer's fault for not updating the sticker. He also stated that they would refund some small amount of the purchase price and give me 2 free oil changes. WOW. I stated that was not acceptable to me and he said he would note that on the case and he would also close the case. He said no further action will be taken. So to sum up I got screwed. I guess I will have to seek legal help. I just can't believe that it is impossible to add that feature.

That's ridiculous. It's on the flippin' sticker! It's in the flippin' brochures! It's supposed to be on the truck!! And "sorry, the dealer should've updated the sticker because we didn't put it on your truck - here's a couple of free oil changes" ..!? That stinks!

I don't know who is shoveling the s***t but in 15 years at a dealer I have never heard of "hey we messed up the sticker could you change it" there are laws about that sticker and to my knowledge it's up to the manufacturer to put the right one out. I don't know buddy someone with more connections than lil old me will have to sift through this.
