K&n Cold Air Intake

I have a 2006 silverado 5.3L ( Z ) engine I`m allways thinking of gas mileage and performance as everyone else these day, I`m thinking of changing my OME air intake to a (K&N 63-3050) high performance intake system i`ve used K&N products before great results what do you think?? is it worth changing thanks

i just added one on my 07 5.3 and yeah its worth it... but, i think that adding an exhast as well would bring it out even more. i mean... if your engine is taking in more air (there for more fuel) it needs to be able to let all of that out as well. with mine it almost feels like it is stuggling to breathe on the way out... my exhast shows up this week and it is a magnaflow cat back.. ill let you know the results.

yeah let me know , but big momma just read it with me and said HELL NO you`ve allready spent enough .. since i`ve allready spent $400 on seat covers $400 on tonneau cover $200 on GM bug defector and window rain guards and $280 for the K&N Air intake system did good there ,then theres Onstar for the month and XM for the year sort of see her point " Sort Of "

Any gains from a CIA like the K&N are marginal at best. You would be better off keeping your stock intake (since it is already a cold air intake). There are some minor modifications you can make to the stock airbox for free that will help a little, like cutting a big hole in the bottom to allow more air to enter. If you really want an aftermarket intake then a closed style intake (like Volant or GMPP) will be more of a benefit for a cold air charge than the open type cia's. Personnaly I don't think any of them are worth the cost.

 

Also the stock exhuast really doesn't flow all that bad and unless you have a moddified engine will be of little benefit, unless you just want a different sound out of it.

I would like to know, when you say "big momma" are you speaking of your Wife or you Mother? If I called my Wife "big momma" I would not have to worry about her reading my posts ever again. My stuff would be in the yard and not even in a bag or box.

I put the K&N on my truck a week ago. I havn't checked milage yet. Butt dyno doesn't measure a whole lot of difference, but it does sound cool when you get on it.

I had a K&N kit on my 06 Z71, tried with magnaflow exhaust and with stock exhaust. I can say that my mileage was the same with or without the K&N Kit. The exhaust actually made the difference in sound and feel of the truck's power and quickness. What I did was sell my kit and modified my stock airbox with a regular K&N filter for it. It gave me the same performance, less enginge noise from the engine compartment, and still is awesome.

 

Save your money and mod the stock intake! Besides, You can buy a Magnaflow or Flowmaster exhaust kit for a little more money than what you would pay for an intake kit.

Okay its offical the K&N 63 Series High Performance Air Intake System Has Been Installed Easy i thought it would take more to put on but really was easy .. the only way i can describe the way it fells is you know when you have a bad head cold and your all stuffed up plowing your nose all the time ,and that goes on for 3-4days then you wake up and you can breath and you go outside and fill them lungs ... well that must be like it is for my truck its saying finally i can breath.. the get up and go is gone .. now all i need to do is wait for the exhaust system to wear out so i can get the right system for that .. give me a month and i`ll let you know how the gas mileage is doing .. I`ll send pictures if anyone is interested of what the K&N looks like on the truck

Totally placebo... unless you drive at 5500 RPM often... rock screen like engine protection... like playing cards in bicycle spokes, just a feel good thing.
