im going to be picking up a 2500hd 2007 leftover today. salesman is trying his best to get a lift installed without voiding the warrenty but so far no luck. anyone have any ideas? should i try another dealer? so far the dealer says it will void the whole warrenty. if thats the case im not going to install the lift when its new. how long should i wait to make sure the truck is running ok? like isnt after so many years or miles of a new truck they say that once that period passes and you have no major issues its good to go? i just want to work out any kinks to install the lift......im diff not waiting till i got 100k miles....at my mileage thats like 8 years alway lol

It should not void the WHOLE warranty, but it should void things like shocks, ball joints, tie rods, u-joints, cv joints, half shafts, springs... Things altered or affected by the lift should be voided. Voiding something like your door handles would be silly.

I installed my lift within the first month of having the truck. Dealer would shy away everytime time i brought it in for work. They would warenty everything that I brougt in for. From a bad cv joint to stuck door handle. Just need to be buddy buddy with the service guy. There are sites out ther that help protect the consumer with modifications and getting the dealer to cover issues, but it is a PITA. Good Luck.

ya, i know its mostly buddy buddy system....with my s10 my local dealer was kick ass, they were really helpfull and even covered things they shouldnt have(had some issues past warrenty, didnt even have to ask they said dont worry were cover it)....but i did bring the truck to them for everything from oil changes to warrenty issues. the service guy there is really cool and has my name in the system before i even give him my phone number.......but the thing is i am not buying the truck there. i found the truck i want about 30mins alway, and they are the ones saying it will void the warrenty. i guess i will talk to the service guy at the local dealer and see what he says. i dont care about balljoints, etc normal wear and tear......but say my fuel pump or intake goes.....how the hell are they going to not fix it because of a lift? thats total bs.

Talk to the dealer you like, see if they can arrange a trade with the other dealer for the truck. I've done this before, basically they'll swap somthing on their lot for the truck you want from the other dealer, if both dealerships can work something out.

very simple. Tell them no warranty, NO SALE! Suddenly it won't be a problem.

Then again, if you put the cart before the horse, you are SOL.

I would say put 20,000 miles or a years worth of driving on it before adding a lift. The warranty will still be good for everything else just not suspension related.

just picked it up. dont ever buy a vechicle right before they are closing!! haha this is the largest car dealer i think in the us or the eastcost. what a bunch of clowns right before closing, but we are only humans. the acounting girl really wanted to go home.......like a bullet through all the paperwork and even sent some texts when i was signing things lol. she forgot to ask for my down payment.....after everything was done me and the salesman were going to go pick it up so he can go over everything......as we were going out the door it was a page for him........damnit i so thought if i could make it out the door they would forgot they didnt ask for my down payment.

oh ya, so far very nice truck. u can feel it has alot of power. lots of room inside. i love it. but its missing rear cupholders i noticed, the cab light doesnt work, and it needs an alignment. im guessing this was one of those who the f**k cares its closing time. i pointed out the cupholder missing and the guy said he'll just mail em too me. didnt notice the alignment issue till i got on the highway.........they have their own track u testdrive on, their off a major highway so i guess they dont want ppl test driving on the highway. i didnt notice the cab light didnt work till i got home, that is like the only button we never tested. i dont know why it has an alignment issue, but it pulls to the right a good amount. i can not wait too put some dual pipes on it.

Congrats on the new truck. As for the cab light I had that problem too. The button is either right above or below the dimmer switch for the inst. cluster, can't remember which. One is the fog lt switch and the other makes the cab lt work when you open the doors. I'd go look at mine but it's 2 below out and I didn't get a X-mas card from you!!

As far as the cup holders and the alignment, I'd be their first customer the next morning and get it all fixed. I can't help you with the lift, my wife can barely get in it now so that's not an option. But she does want her new Wrangler lifted but I'm waiting till we get to 10k miles just to make sure we don't have any issues.

You must have bought this truck from Reedman-Toll right? Their dumba** little test track is a joke, it is no where close to REAL road conditions. I bought my 96K1500 there new way back when. I told them, either we are going out for a test drive on the road or I'm not buying. After having to BS with the guy bout it they finally gave in. Ever since Toll Brothers Inc. merged with Reedman they have even gotten worse. I went in there looking at new silverados and they didn't even want me to to go up to the truck lot, they just wanted to me stay in the showroom :) ?

Sorry about the rant

Hopefully you'll get all those little issues worked out with it.
