Got The 20's, Now What

I know that bigger brakes are needed, what about the suspension? Adding all that additional weight can't be a good thing. In case you missed my other post, the stock aluminum 16's weigh about 15 lbs and the chrome 20's weigh about 40 lbs.

Brakes will survive fine as long as the overall diameter of the tire and wheel package is not much different. Just be ready to stop at the gas pump more often... Those heavier wheels will drop your MPG by a mile or two. Mine did... but it was worth it.

You had a suspension question too, again nothing needs to be done(if you like the way she looks now)rims are unsprung weight. Unless you get some that stick way out like in the 90's.

my GMC chromed 20" only weight 27lbs so I wonder what the Chinese are using for metal to make them 44lbs

I'd say lead, but that is going into our kids' toys.

my 07 nbs silverado has the 17 in wheels, I want the 20's so my question is will it make the truck sit up any higher?? It looks like there is alot of room in the wheel wells so it wont look crappy with big wheels stuffed in there will it??

Kris, it won't look bad so long as you put at least some 50 series rubber on it. For example, the factory 20" wheels on my truck run 275/55/R20 tires on them and it looks great. If you use similar sized rims and tires, then your truck shouldn't sit appreciably higher than it does now.

Cool, Im getting a set of 20in new take offs with tires from an 08 nbs for 900 bucks! So I should be able to slap them on and go then correct? I have a tuner so I will be able to calibrate to the new tire size.
