Engine Light

Was having 01 Suburban in for emissions testing and they told me it automatically failed beacause the check engine light did not come on at start up. I removed gauge cluster to see if bulb was burned out and was not, but the bulb is not channgable, soldered into board. any advice?

I would take it somewhere else...that sounds odd to fail a truck for that.

Have your power control module scaned there should be a code for the service engine soon light circuit and then you can go from there.

Not sure where you are Rick, but in Texas they will fail it for that every time in the areas that require emissions testing. Their computer will also fail it is it has any current, pending, or recently cleared codes. After having some work done on one of our company vehicles, we were told that we had to go drive it for a few days because of recently cleared codes. Even though there was nothing wrong with the truck, they would not pass it.

 

It is possible that the bulb is out... but I would have it checked for codes.
