Chrome Bumpers

Wilst looking at the GMT900 Chevrolet, I noticed that the chrome part of bumper is just on front with black or color matching plastic end caps.

 

Some of the upscale models from all manufacturers have zero chrome on bumpers. Styling exercise? Better looking?

 

All automobile used to have front and rear chrome bumpers. Now none have chrome bumpers. Wind tunnel tests and fuel economy have placed a plastic facia on all cars now.

 

Most chrome comes from Rhodesia - Zimbabwe for you younsters. And an unstable government.

 

But the main question is: Is the chrome front and rear bumper dead on pickup trucks? Or will there always be one model that has a metal chrome bumper in the future?

gmc has a nice chrome front/rear bumper.

 

I like the metal bumpers, but I prefer colormatched.

Look at the new Dodge's, chrome bumper is very much alive on them.

 

But colored match gives a cleaner more subtle look, also makes the front end look mean if you have a chrome grill and chrome air dam at the bottom.

 

Not having chrome bumpers lets you accent the truck with chrome instead of having a truck you have to call Silver Surfer cause of all the chrome.

I like chrome bumpers on trucks. If I wanted a car I would have bought one. To each his own though. I've seen a lot of color matched ones that looked good.

 

What I miss is having REAL bumpers on my trucks. These fake tinfoil pieces of crap they give us now are without worth...
