900 Series Tow Hooks- Using Looped Straps

Recommended Posts

I picked up a tow strap when I had my 99 which has the loops on both ends. It worked great on the 800 series due to the tow hooks being open/accessible on one end. However, the 08 has the tow hooks looped back toward the bumper and thus they're closed in. Anyone have anything they carry currently in case they need to do some pulling with a 900 truck? I'm guessing probably a pair of clevises maybe? I was just trying to figure out what to have on-hand that wouldn't chew up the plastic around those hooks(as best I can prevent it).

Youll probably have to choker the strap around the hooks. Feed one loop through the hook and put that end through the 2nd loop in the strap and pull it tight.

That's what I would do as well, assuming you have enough room to get the rope through the hooks; there's not much room.

I don't know any other method than ZZ327's method. If there's not enough room inside the tow hooks to loop the strap through, a clevis would work, but it'll probably take all the paint off the inside of your hooks (if you're worried about that).

Just get yourself a couple of hooks that you can put on the loops.......tractor supply store or a good hardware store will carry them.
