Dont know if this is the correct spot for this... I pulled my trans to rebuild (3-4 cluches smoked, suprise...suprise) 4l60e out of a 1996 yukon 4x4 to find that it look like it may be a bone yard unit I have been trying for hours to find somewhere to decode the numbers so I know what it came out of....Case Stamped is 6KCD027N.... also there is a 0868 listed where it says Toledo on the bell housing sticker and the full number on the sticker is 616KCDY16409404

Can someone tell me what year and when it was built and model it came out of ?

Thank you,

Ernie

I got a trans from a recycle yard that seems to be missing a number. In the first diagram you show the spot to ID the trans with 9 numbers or letters. I have only eight. The trans looks like it had other numbers there before and were ground off and replaced with 6MSD094R. It was said to be from a 96 Astro with 131,000 miles. I wonder if it is a remanufactured 86 4L60E. They have been used since 85 in Astro/Safari and C1500/K1500s. The second diagram shows where to find the serial number and that looks like it was machined off at some time. Any ideas on what I have here?

If it was out of an 86 it would be a 700R4 which is cable operated, I think it was 92 or 93 when the 4l60E came around its basically a 700R4 just eletronic .

dont mean to be a thread jacker but

i have bought a drivetrain out a "supposely" 06 ss siverado truck, which comes with a lq9 & 4l65e tranny, but after doing the "check the piston" test im thinking that its a lq4 and came out of a 1500 06 siverado.

i want to make sure of what i have before i run off spending money to later find out its something else.

The block confirms that it did come out of a 06 truck, but as we all know it wont tell me anything else. So i have pulled off the sn off the tranny itself can somebody please help me decode this so ill have piece of mind and will be able to move foward with my build PLEASE.!!!! Ive spent hourrssss online trying to do this myself but i have been incapable of doing so.

tranny seriel number is

c61275321

thanks for the help guys.
