Got The New Exhaust On!

Looks nice! I'm used to seein' the straight pipes out the back of the trucks around here - what you've got is not to common - good choice!

Do the pipes go out both sides or just the one side?

Its Magnaflow muffler and tips, then took it to exhaust shop and fought with them to put it on.

Can I ask you how much they charged to put 'em on? I want to get a flowmaster super44 welded into my stock system in the near future.

Well, to be honest, I'm not a fan of that particular setup on your truck. Certainly not something I'd do. But if it works for you...

Can you give us your pros/cons as to why you don't agree with this setup? I'm going to be doing this and was thinking of magnaflow setup as well.

Yeah it was 109 to put it on. I do like it. I like it a lot. Its not too loud, but it's loud enough to let everyone know its there which is cool with me. the only thing i don't like about it is the way they ran the tips the left one (if your looking at the passenger side) its right under the leaf springs. so i was worried about the leaf spring hitting the pipe/tips. the guy at the exhaust shop(midas) said it would depend on how much weight i had in the bed. but my buddy said it wouldn't bother it at all.but all in all its good.

Eh, I just don't care for side-exit exhausts in front of the rear wheels on such a long truck. Doesn't look "right." Since it's shorter, they also tend to have a raspy sound to 'em. And being so close to the cab, it's far more obvious that you have a side-exit exhaust, and you hear it a lot more towards the right than if it went further back. So the exhaust tends to sound "uneven."

Certain setups may not have those cons, the driver may not notice, or just doesn't bother them. Which is perfectly fine, of course. :) All about personal preference!

But if I were going to go with this type of setup, I'd try to find some angle cut tips or another tip that's more even with the body. And even better, try to work out a dual exhaust so it comes out both sides. Typically sounds much smoother and even.

And that's the great thing about having a local exhaust shop set it up for ya. It's cheap and easy enough to try different systems until you find one that works for you. I know I've certainly gone through plenty myself. :D
