Using Rear View Camera When Not In Reverse

Recommended Posts

Hi-

I have a 2008 Yukon XL that I use to carry my three Great Danes.

Their size makes the the rear view mirror useless a lot of the time.

I would like to install a switch to bypass/over-ride the requirement for the transmission to be in reverse for the camera to display that I can use when the rear view mirror is obstructed.

Any help would be appreciated!!

This web site has a device to allow multiple cameras regardless of the vehicle

being in reverse. It does much more than just rear camera.

I have a love/hate relationship with my GMX320. The features are cool and they do work but to turn on the rear cam manually you must change the radio so its on any input besides XM (guess which input I'm usually listening to when I want to see the cam???), then you have to press the window lockout button once, then the mute button on the steering wheel 4 times. That's 5 or 6 keystrokes (depending on radio source) that require the use of both hands to turn the cam on. It only takes one keystroke (window lockout) to turn it off. I do enjoy the GMX320 other functions like being able to program a nav desination while driving and the XM category listing (this is clunky and doesn't always work correct but I use this feature of the lockpick the most).
