Space Between Tire And Wheel-well Different

Recommended Posts

I just got a new 2008 GMC Sierra. It only has 400 miles on it and I have treated it very well, with no offroading or anything. However, I noticed the space between the top of the tire and the wheel well edge is about an inch smaller on the driver side then on the passenger side. Is this normal? If not, is it an easy fix? What is involved? I don't know if it's a major problem. If you look at the front of the truck on a flat surface, you can definitely tell that it's tilted.

Thanks

suspension has not settled into its normal stance, id give it at least 2000 miles or so

Easy fix - Add a fat woman in the passenger seat for 500 miles. J/K.

Could not pass up the stupid joke on this one.

I'm guessing you hardly ever have a passenger riding with you.

Easy solution....stay out of the fast food drive-thru lanes.

Seriously though, 1 inch sounds extreme. Mine is off 1/2", lower on the drivers side. Front to back is consistant.

Thanks for the replies. So does everyone think it will get better after 2000 miles? If it doesn't, how easy is it to fix, and what is involved? Would the dealer fix it under warranty, and if so, is it a fix that would only take a few hours and no parts?

Thanks again!

Do you have a full tank of gas?

No, it's about 10% full :-(

A full tank (26 gals) of gas only weighs about 150 lbs. I doubt that would make it sag much at all.

The quick fix is to not worry about it. No one but you notices. You can look at any MFR's vehicles and there are tolerances.

So if it's still 1inch off after 2000 miles, would it be an easy, quick fix by dealer? And would it be minimally invasive?

Thanks

Has someone at the dealership adjusted the torsion bars. The can and should be adjusted when your box is empty and your fuel tank full. Have raised mine to accomodate 285/75/16's. Just have to do both sides equal.

Cool, thanks. I've heard that you should never touch the torsion bars though - is this true in this case, or is this case a perfect case of adjusting the torsion bars?
