hubbycap Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 The plastic shield is just that, to help prevent rock or limb punctures. It doesn't help keep gas in the tank. Do the hoses go in the side of the tank or top? If they go in the top, the tank seam would be all that could be leaking when 1/2 full. That would not be good. If the hoses go in the side it may be dry rot of the hoses, 20 years is a long time for rubber. Edit: correction of hideous grammar.
Guest Riggs Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 typicly they crack or devolpe holes right at the seem (Half Tank) where the 2 side are connected. buy a new gas tank, only way to fix
