BEFORE YOU VOTE or make a post: I want to get opinions on these shocks that aren't based on what you're prior experiences are. Basically, if you've never been in a vehicle with either of these shocks or heard any opinions on these shocks, which ones would you pick?

I've done research for new shocks for my truck (2wd with 7" Fabtech suspension lift) and I could not find Bilstein shocks for more than a 4" suspension lift, so I looked some more and found the Edelbrock Xtreme Travel IAS shocks which didn't seem to have any bad reviews for them and they were featured on Xtreme 4x4 a few weeks ago. I called 4WheelParts last week and they said they could call Bilstein and get custom length shocks made, which I'm guessing would be the 5100 series. Price is a factor. If there is more than a $15 dollar price difference between the shocks, I am going to have to get the cheaper ones.

I think for the price you should try a set of the Edelbrocks. I'm sure they will be cheaper than the Bilsteins and 4 Wheel & Off Road spoke very highly of them in a review.

I have no experiece with the Edelbrock shocks and the only truck I've had with Bilstein shocks was my ZR2 pickup. I worked at a GM dealership for 6 years in the front end/suspsension/steering dept. and I replaced alot of the Bilstein shocks due to leaks even when they weren't very old. they may be a good shock but for the price of them I think your better off going with something better. I would say go with the Edelbrock shocks just for the fact that everyone knows how much R&D Edelbrock puts into their products, they are built in the USA and have proven quality in the name.
