Thought I'd Post My Pics

The wife found an incredible deal on a 6.2 megapixel HP camera WITH the photo printer for $99 so we jumped on it. I finally got around to taking some pictures of the Silverado. I know, I know, it desperately needs aftermarket wheels...

Those are cool stripes. Who makes them?

I designed them, and a local shop here in the Denver metro did them in Black Stardust vinyl. Mark, the owner is an absolute artist in vinyl. All of the stripes are HAND CUT (staight runs are cut with a straight edge, otherwise they're hand cut). The outside line of the hood stripes follow the subtle curve of the power buldge. The cut he made looks like a machine did it - perfect. I helped with layout and taping (we use guide tape, in the form of painters tape or thin pin stripe tape as guides to the cuts). I'm quite amazed at how it turned out. The sparkle of that stardust vinyl is incredible!

I like it. It sort of reminds me of some of the older camaro's and chevelles from late 60's and early 70's.

Thanks. It was inspired by the 1970 Chevelle stripes (at least the hood was). This would probably be better on the SS from a historical standpoint, but what the heck!

How much HP do they add? :)

I figure they're good for at LEAST 40 lb ft of torque! :)

They also provide micro-turbulance at the surface, reducing boundry-layer drag. That HAS to be worth a couple miles per hour!

Mostly they lightened the truck by removing unneeded dollars from my billfold.

Not usually a huge fan of stripes, but those look great. Very tasteful in my opinion.

Thanks! The intent was for a more subtle approach than the silver metalic on blue I had on the Cobalt I traded in. If it weren't for Mark at Jazz It Up here in the Denver metro I probably wouldn't do this, but he's such an artist it inspires me to design stripes for all my rides. He brought back the Black Stardust vinyl from the trade show the day I bought the truck, so it just came together.

Yeah I got to admit those Stripes make it look really, really good. Nice choice and congrats on the Camera.

Nice stripe job. Looks great without being overdone or too much. Truck really looks nice.

Thanks!

It's hard to see in these shots, but there's a matching "rally stripe" just above the mid-line crease that goes all the way to the taillight (but not over the flares). This helps extend the theme to the back since the "hocky stick" stripes stop at the back of the back door windows. I'm still contemplating stripes to match the hood on the tailgate.

The camera was such a bargain - anyone in the market check out Circuit City. Great camera and it comes with a photo printer for half what I expected the camera to cost ($99). As high as paper and cartridges are, though, they could give away the printers and make money (which they are, come to think of it!).

Sweet looking truck! Hey, about how much does a camper shell like that run? I'm thinking of getting a cap for mine but will probably just get a tonneau cover for now.

I have no idea

I bought the truck with 6K miles and it had the topper (color matched) and the bug shield. The salesman threw in the tube steps when my wife (who is five foot nothing) grumbled about having to jump up into the cab. I added the stripes, ventshades, tint, and chrome locking fuel door, plus the K&N and Magnaflow cat back (it had a Flowmaster muffler with crappy exhaust shop crush bent 2 1/2 pipes - loud and restrictive at the same time).

We wanted a topper and were shopping for a new '07 (at the time) when this used '06 was offered that fit the bill perfectly, and at a considerable savings over new. It was even the colors I wanted! Such a deal!

Good luck with your shopping. I'm sure the topper is more than some tonneau's, but some of the power ones are probably as expensive.
