How Many Miles?

I know if i want a long lasting tire i should get a road tire... but I am in love with the mud terrain look of aggrsessiveness

What kind of milage have you all gotten out of your aggressive tires?

I was looking at the Firestone Destination M/T's. On tirerack they are rated the top in their category. And rated a 8.5 on treadwear. They have that aggressive look I am looking for... and they are fairly inexpensive

I do a lot of driving, so I am looking for a good treadwear aggressive tire

I've seen 60-70K out of my BFG all terrains on my 01 Silverado (Fred). The current Firestone Destination ATs on my jeep show no wear at all at about 10K. Looks like they are gonna hold up well.

Hope that helps.

I've got 7K on my Mickey T MTZ's, and they're just starting to show signs of wear. I've heard of a couple of people that got over 40K out of a set of them too.

I really like the Destination M/T's, They are a really solid lookin tire

I have 56,000 on my stock tires and despirately need new ones. I want to go a little bigger and agressive

Do you think I'll be able to slide 305/70/16's on the stock rims without a lift? maybe a crank and trim? Or should I go with the 285's

Go with the 285's, the 305's are way too wide for the stock wheels, and the 285's shouldn't take much cranking or trimming to fit.

I run 305/70r16s like alot of people and they fit fine ofcourse, but the longest lasting MT is going to be the BFG MT. Ive seen em do 55,000 still with tread.

you put 307/70's on the stock 6.5" wheel? Or do you have a different size

I've noticed it varies on what load range everyone has. Does it matter weather or not I do D or E??

I've gotten 60-70 out of BFG AT's on my 1500 and I'd recommend them to anyone. I have 285's on my stock HD rims but I wouldn't go any bigger than that on a stock rim. You have to pay real close attention to the tire pressure to make sure you get even wear. I run 45 in the rear and 50 up front and they are wearing well. I've had them for 18k miles now. I did some very minor trimming on the bottom of the front valance (maybe 1/2") and I did not do any cranking of the t-bars - I'm not a fan of cranking t-bars anyway. I have no rubbing issues at all.

I would also recommend looking into a tuner of some kind to recalibrate your speedo for the tire size. I have the Superchips Flashpaq. The dealer can do up to 265's I believe. Superchips also now has a unit that just reclibrates your speedo for tires w/o necessarily giving you a tune. I have the 87 tune in my truck and it helped especially going up two tire sizes.

I had the Firestone Destination MT's on my Z-71. Unfortunately, I traded the truck in shortly after that. Through the 8,000 miles that I used them; wet pavement is the only downfall to that tire. They tend to hydroplane due to no siping in the block tread. The tread compound is firm which helps with the 6,000# trucks and will not squirm like many of the at's. There was no chunking or cuts in the tread. Looking back, I should have kept them for my 2500hd, but they were only "d" load. I currently have General Grabber AT2's (load "e"). They look and wear like the BFG At's but cost about $40 a tire less. (possibly another option)

Load range D is fine for anything 265 or bigger. Having 305's on a stock rim is not a good thing, but people still do it. For the load ranges, you have to look at the weight rating, not the load range.

I have load range D BFG's and in my experience they last the longest with the best traction. I also tow heavy loads, but not worried about it with the LR 'D' because they are 265's and the BFG's have a 3 ply sidewall.

Only problem with MT tires is that they howl, wet traction can be bad, and the wear isn't as good as an AT tire.

I have about 20k on my BFG's that are load range D and I would bet theyre below 50% tread. I keep them rotated and the correct pressure in them.. My dad has about 40k on his michelins and they look brand new still (theyre load range E). I"m just wondering if my fast wear is because of the lighter load range.

I have to have a load range E. I haul way to much stuff. Anyhow, I had a set of Dayton Timberline A/T's which I put 70+k on them before they needed replaced. I tried a set of Coursers this time, less than 40k and they're toast.

I've got 19k on my load range "D" BFG's and I have a good 70%+ tread life left - they still look brand new. Something doesn't seem right there. I went 65k on my first set of BFG's on my 1500.
